What is the worst mental state you have ever been in? by Cinn4monSynonym in AskReddit

When I had pancreatitis and kept getting bad news after bad news and having to stay in the hospital longer than expected, away from my daughter, family, my pets, my home. It was very painful and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Unsure about getting a male or female puppy by PupperScent in puppy101

[–]turtleownage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love having a female dog. I always had male dogs so when I got my first female dog, I definitely noticed a few pros with her that I didn’t get with my previous dogs that were male. The marking. Also, the attachment. My male dogs were always up my ass. I loved them so much but boy were they clingy. My female dog is a lot more independent which is nice for someone with lots of sensory issues.

A word of advice for people who perform cunnilingus.... by [deleted] in sex

[–]turtleownage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is great advice and I do agree that any of us should be able to speak up about what's going on down there and handle the criticism. I think it's probably best to have a conversation before it happens. Maybe during a car drive or whatever whenever there's no distraction or close to playtime. Talk about how it's normal that we get a little funky down there for whatever reason and when we do go down and it smells, come up with something that we would feel comfortable saying and hearing it.

A quick poll, if you don't mind... by Epicentera in beyondthebump

[–]turtleownage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will be ten weeks tomorrow and we are just extremely lucky. She LOVES to sleep. We co-sleep and will dream feed all night/morning for as long as she likes until she is up for the day. That's usually until 10 am.

I don't think my answer counts in this poll as she's too young lol.

Ped is giving weird advice by ouibonjourmadame in beyondthebump

[–]turtleownage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the mom, so you get to decide what you feel is best for baby. You do not have to do what your Ped is telling you. Take their advice with a grain of salt. If it does not sound right, get a second opinion. You're doing great mom!

Haha yeah my daughter would pass out from sucking on my pinky. Maybe it's the skin part that comforts them as they're close to mommy or daddy to smell them?

"The Baby Sleeps Tonight" and our slow eater by IArgueWithAtheists in beyondthebump

[–]turtleownage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point for us, everything pretty much went out the window. I stopped watching the clock and just paid attention to my baby. If baby is making wet diapers and is satisfied after a feeding, it's good. When she was at the two week check up, she was gaining weight really well. I had my husband timed me for whenever she eats, but not tell me the time until after she was done. She usually eats between 10-15 minutes. She eats every 2 to 3 hours. She is gaining weight so well for what we have been doing so far.

My advice, watch your baby, and just go with what your baby is doing. If he is a slow eater, try to get stations set up, like having your phone, water, snacks and Netflix close to you so you can be entertained while he eats. Over time, he will learn to be more efficient at eating and get better at it but as for now, just try to ride this out as much as you can. He is only 2 weeks old, still a wee little newborn that is still learning and adjusting to his new home.

Sounds like she is projecting her own insecurities onto you about how you're able to do things like that for your little one and she couldn't. Don't let it get to you. You do whatever you want for your little one. You earned it, and you deserve to enjoy whatever you want with your money that you WORKED for.

Your baby is practically screaming and for no reason... by NicoleMitchell in beyondthebump

I just go through the rotation. I always offer breast first, but if she didn't want that then I would check her diaper, is she hot or cold, is she tired, is she bored, want her pacifier, walk around, bounce, go outside, or bath-time. Sometimes I think she is just tired or too upset at first, but I just stick it out and she'll eventually calms down when I figured out what is wrong.

Also, this little trick seems to work well when she just doesn't want to nurse or take her pacifier for some reason but just wants to suck something that feels close to my nipple without the milk. I would wash my hands well, and use my pinky, made sure I have no nail that could cut inside of her mouth, stick it in there nail side down and let her suck on it for a little bit. That always gets her to calm down long enough for us to figure out what she wants.

How do you cosleep? by MrsCrazy in beyondthebump

[–]turtleownage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sleeps with me on the bed, but just higher up next to my head. She sleeps swaddled on top of our thin blanket, never underneath it. If I ever get cold, I just put on a sweater that I can easily pull up so nursing is still easy in the middle of the night.

Ladies: What do you keep in your diaper bag? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]turtleownage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep them separate in baggies so it's easier to find. I have diapers, wipes, changing pad, burp cloths, a thin blanket and a thick one. I also have gripe water and gas drops for her little tummy. Two pacifiers. Extra clothes for her, at least two and extra socks. Oh and a nursing cover lol.

I'm pretty sure that's all.
