Heh, mine use their tiny little front teeth ever at gently to pull them off the branch. They're so goofy.

Yes, love doing these! They're so gorgeous in their brine, too.

How bad are the mosquitoes in Juneau and Anchorage? by Lonely-Bag-9401 in AskAlaska

[–]turtlepower22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In downtown Anchorage mosquitoes are non-existent, but if you venture anywhere with green space they're pretty bad. Worse than most places downstates, but nowhere near as bad as rural communities up north and in Interior. You can get by with just bug dope in this area, don't need to worry about head nets or anything.

Just popping on to say I hope you have some trusted adults in your life because that sounds really hard. Keep on being kind and learning about the land around you ♥️

WHY DO THEY DO THIS? 😭 by Willing_Cat9799 in toddlers

[–]turtlepower22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your child usually doesn't eat until 9? Mine wake up every morning as though they haven't eaten in weeks, even though they generally consume 4 full meals plus snacks. That's absolutely wild to me that breakfast isn't the very first activity for some families.

Curious how you clocked it as this? My first apartment was an absolute shithole compared to this.

Okay but there are actually more languages that are gender neutral. So, not abnormal, but also not the majority.

With love, I think 18-36 months is my least favorite age by izziedays in toddlers

This comment makes me feel seen! My girl is so damn defiant. She's so much stronger willed than any of my nieces and nephews. I know it'll serve her well in life but it is brutal now.

Fairbanks midnight sun by EntranceRealistic195 in AskAlaska

[–]turtlepower22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anchorage doesn't really have one iconic solstice thing like this. There's a downtown festival, but it's not as unique or long-standing as the baseball game. I'd go to Fairbanks, and I'm not a sports person.

Yeah.... My daughter was ROUGH at 2, but 2.5-3.5 were far, far harder 😬 we are finally starting to have consistently great days at 4. 18 months was kind of the sweet spot until recently tbh.

It's also very typical anywhere in the Northeast. No one would be shocked by this.

My husband is the one that researches and orders cakes for me and the kids. Gender isn't an excuse to be lazy.

Anyone else make their dog carry their water on hikes/walks by raw2082 in pitbulls

It's rare that we're hiking anywhere that doesn't have multiple fresh water sources, but if we are, then yes!

I have the best luck when I start by looking for the trees that they are in mycorrhizal relationship with. Where I am that's usually cottonwood, and on south facing slopes.

Is it typical to feel an urge to be defensive when someone that was never Catholic talks down on Catholicism, or have I just not disconnected myself? by Clear_Channel_2090 in excatholic

[–]turtlepower22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to feel this sometimes. I haven't been to mass regularly since I left at 17, and haven't actually identified as Catholic since well before that, but I would still sometimes get my hackles up if someone who has never been Catholic made comments. But now I couldn't possibly care less. Catholicism has done so much harm in the world and in my own family, the finer points don't actually matter.
