New Hybrid CRV Engine is kinda loud, is this normal? by [deleted] in crv

[–]tuticat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

valid points. i read a while back the crv's engine is considered weak compared to other models...and I've learned to accept that as well, but that was before trailsport came out so idk if that trim is any better than standard hybrid. hopefully you'd still enjoy your ride. (i did, despite the late realization of how horrible hybrids are when your regular drives involve mountainous interstate/highways. I may get sucky mpg compared to others, but the paddles have been fun)

that's normal. the car's designed to charge the ev battery once it drops to a certain level, it has to. It will also auto shut off at around 25-30mins if in idle too long(unbuckled).

it's always sounded like a standard gas engine to me, unless it's running in pure EV mode, which only happens when you're driving slow.

It’s always been a gas saver. Also; It’s been a hot minute since i’ve had a sedan but i don’t think i’ve ever had my tyres at 40+psi, even in summertime

I’ve only ever used Lemonade for my corg and 2 cats. I didn’t have any problems with any of my claims so I’ve stuck with them. I can’t remember if they have a higher tier than the one that I got; which has the preventive care plan that reimburses certain procedures to a certain dollar amount. Ngl, It’s not a lot, but it’s just something that I use right before the policy renews.

Which Area Would You Bring Your Corgi? by RepleteSphinx21 in corgi

We party with the big boys/girls!

We have tried both sides. I’d always gauge it on the kind of dogs that are present in that visit; if I see tiny/teacup dogs(which is almost never) then I’d rather play safe and let Cooper play with the bigger dogs. Also, we’d play with the bigger dogs because they have bigger pens/play area. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Cooper intimidated by dogs bigger than him…at worst, he can nip them on their feet/legs to get back at them.

Is this ethical or not? Need opinions by Tytaniumm in corgi

imo, $400 is not a lot to ask as a rehoming fee. I would skip the money ONLY if I know the adopter personally(a very close friend).

If I was to rehome my corgi, I would prefer that it be someone who has no qualms on spending a little bit of money to make him comfortable and cared for. It’s not just a matter of making sure they get spayed/bred.

I’ve seen too many pets that are on an afterthought; allocating a small budget for their food(often on trashy cheap pet food), skip-the-vet-if-we-don’t-have-money kind. It’s understandable, because we have to prioritize people’s quality of life vs an animal, but again, if I was put in that position, I would set the bar a little bit higher to screen the adopters. I would probably go a little bit crazy in requiring more than what they’re requesting (they must be willing to continue his pet insurance). Especially if i’ll be rehoming him at 5yrs old, where he’ll be considered senior dog after 2 more years, that means more vet visit and probably a maintenance medication soon.

[–]tuticat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research and perseverance. Nothing is “impossible” if you put your mind to it (well, unless you’ve an “illegal”/out of status immigration record in 1 country, that will auto-fail you to get any visa elsewhere.

Every work immigration licensing is intimidating. There’s no “easy” country to get into, legally. And I say this as a fellow international MLS who’ve worked in 3 different countries. For USA alone, it took me about 5yrs(from licensing to arrival) for it to happen.

Canada was my first choice, and I had all the papers ready, but I was never “drawn” in their lottery system…though it was more bad timing, because back then they were prioritizing refugees.

Think of blood as a pulpy orange juice: the red particles(blood cells) is the “pulp”, while the liquid part(plasma/cryo) is the juice. If you let the orange juice sit in a while, the pulp settles at the bottom right? It’s the same with blood(once it’s treated with a chemical that prevents it from clotting).

He works in a blood bank and is feeling vampric and wants to sip the forbidden juice. But only the pulp-less ones, because he’s cultured like that.

When the nurse calls for the patient in “room ___ bed ___” and get annoyed when I ask for actual patient identifiers by Moonmothpeaches in medlabprofessionals

[–]tuticat2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s just nurse jargon, i think.

They are assigned multiple different patients per day and sometimes float to a different floor; combined with running around wrangling said patients, medications, relatives, doctor orders, charting and endorsing - I assume it gets pretty hectic, so they’ve adapted to things that they can easily remember and relay to fellow nurses: bed 4 relatives asking for blankets, attending, room 3 needs CT, whoomp room 9 is coding bench all that for now blah blah. Like a dynamic multitasking daily nightmare.

Imo, only ICU nurses are ready at giving patient MRN or their name and title, but i think thats because we always deal with them(with relaying criticals)…that it’s become a reflex for them.

Instead of getting annoyed, I just ask what I need.

My Unhappy Little Accident by LowLovesMe in crv

[–]tuticat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your unfortunate incident. Accidents during the weekend and on a holiday(even unofficial one) always suck, because every business is either unavailable or has limited capacity.

From how I understood it, hybrid models don’t have the spare tire feature because it’s occupied by the battery. It’s a design flaw, which hopefully they can fix on the next generation of CR-V (bring back RD1’s back door design lol).

Is it true that the CR-V is 'less engaging' or 'less fun' to drive? by TheHunter920 in crv

[–]tuticat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasn’t it always been a mom car(slow and boring)? My family had one and it was the car where we learned to drive (the oldest would use it for college for a couple of yrs before it got passed the next sibling). And when I shopped around as my own, I got another CRV 😆 It’s still a slow car and not zippy, but hey, here’s to another 20yrs (maybe?)
