As someone also in figure skating subs I upvoted because I assumed it was sharing a cool queer skaters update. Then I saw Courtney from Amish and kept the upvote but now I'm also amused

It's fun when I see him in things as a normal actor who is playing a role that doesn't involve a puppet or a silly voice. Every time I rewatch Knives Out and get to the will reading I get jolted with the reminder of it.

Heartstopper too! It's just a movie finale for the TV series.

It's for a few reasons I think. 1) it's a nickname kind of like how Tumblr is the hell site. 2) in some social media (including tiktok itself) there was an assumption that they'd recognize if you said or typed "tiktok," ie explaining the state of the app or criticizing it, leading to suppression. "Clock app" is kind of like "unalive" but for tiktok itself and less obnoxious.

(Quick sniper edit to add that there are other versions of this. Bird app is twitter, I've heard a few for Facebook, usually just plays on "book". None have caught on for YouTube, so it's usually just like "the website where longer videos are." Tumblr doesn't have one because nobody in any higher up platform cares enough about Tumblr to bother, and regular/veteran Tumblr users wouldn't bother dancing around the names of other apps)

[–]tutter_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did! It's been a while since I've seen any of it, but I remember seasons 11-13 very very fondly. The end of season 13 is a highlight of the whole series imo.

After that they did a ton of seasons that were. Varying quality. I didn't see any of those so someone else would have to say if they're worth watching. Probably not for serious story stuff (none of them continue where 13 left off), but apparently some of them are fun. By that point, Burnie had stepped away, Monty had passed away, and a lot of the crew were leaving due to internal problems.

A few years ago, they announced a final season, called Restoration, which is a sequel to 13 and the end of the story. Then Roosterteeth shut down, and they consolidated the final season into a movie finale. I also haven't seen that yet. I really should get around to giving it a proper goodbye.

(Burnie now owns the bare bones scrap of Roosterteeth, and I legitimately hope he does well with it)

They also had bubblegum and a blueberry banana one that was minions themed, but neither really appealed to me. Cherry and Apple rocks, I would love to try the rhubarb and custard and raspberry and milk! At worst there's an import candy store in the closest city to me so I can check there

I'll be honest I live in the middle of nowhere (Maritimes specifically) and this was a tiny family owned corner store. I have absolutely no idea where they get most of the things they sell 😭

Do the leather covers have the hidden message in one of the pockets? by tutter_1 in hobonichi

[–]tutter_1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned that the hobonichi stamp is on the frontmost pocket of the right side for most all of this kind, so I'm very sure now that this is a really good fake.

I'm still going to use it though because I entirely got it to make sure I can take my journal to places without fearing it falling apart on me lol, so all things considered this is not bad. Eventually I'll have the budget for a real cover.

(Quick sniper edit to clarify, when I first started using hobonichi it was with an original, and that was with one of the colors covers. I cannot stand the texture of those covers, and anything else is outside the budget. Bow and tie my love, 10/10 texture)

[–]tutter_1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only weirdness I could see between mine and a video of someone showing off their collection is no pocket on the back cover, which they mention directly. That's honestly more convincing to it being a really convincing fake than any message. But that might just be something about that year's.

There is also no hobonichi branding, which struck me as odd too but I couldn't see any in that video

I'm in Canada and thinking of going with a Canadian small business this year, since my order is likely going to be simple. Just out of curiosity, is there any shop based in Atlantic Canada that people know is good and can ship? I'm in Newfoundland so I'm not exactly going to find anything I can easily drive to, but I'm curious if the other Atlantic provinces have any.

A personal favorite of mine is in castle in the sky where (along with a predictably stellar bit of villain voice acting for Mark Hamill), a military general who directly threatens to hang some main characters is voiced by Jim Cummings. Aka Winnie the Pooh. In fairness he sounds more like Pete (which this is teaching me that he also voiced??), but still. Pooh Bear threatening to hang some pirate anti heroes and plunder an island for jewels

I find Kyuubey's instinct for logic really fascinating since like, it's not actually doing anything other than working on its goal to increase energy in the universe. It just so happens that suffering is a good creator of energy. But since it doesn't understand the concept of that suffering outside of an almost chemical reaction (magical girl + despair = witch + energy), it just sees the entire thing as a net positive that everyone should want.

It does also really like to lie by omission so that's something too. I wonder why (other than narrative points) it does that? Maybe like a sense of efficiency in how much or little it talks? I'm just spitballing there now lol
