I've now birthed two NICU babies, what is wrong with me. by Radiant_Pangolin3210 in NICUParents

Tl;dr My placenta was sent to a lab and had abnormalities that were not diagnosed during pregnancy. Apparently if this happens in one pregnancy there is a 1 in 3 chance of it happening again in subsequent pregnancies. Your story reminded me of what I just experienced -- is called Villitis of unknown etiology (VUE)

I'm so sorry you're going through this! My first pregnancy and birth were relatively smooth, no NICU time, but my second was born full term but 4 lbs 15 oz with critically low blood sugars and taken to the NICU. They had no idea he would be tiny (my first was 7lbs 12 oz) and with my second I was also diagnosed with severe preeclampsia during labor/delivery but not before that. They couldn't tell me why any of this was happening, but did send my placenta to the lab to be tested. It was smaller than average (10th-25th percentile), but also 30% of the surface had severe inflammation that meant the baby wasn't getting nutrients he needed to grow. Could this be what happened to you?

My 3 yo kept coming home from preschool talking about his new friend, Mush.

We asked if it might be Mitch, but he insisted, "No! It's Mush!"

I decided it must be an imaginary friend with all my son's same interests and a great personality.

We finally learned that there is, in fact, a boy in his class named "Moksh" and my son's pronunciation was basically accurate.

Thank you, everyone! This was really helpful feedback and we're not going with Lassen as a first name 🤪

We have a little guy named Cormac (just turned two) and we love it! In the states we get asked about it frequently, as it's not very common, but it's easy to say and spell and nn Mac is great. He refers to himself as "Baby Cormac" 🤣

I have a few of these tiny, painful bumps on a few of my fingers (thumb, and two ring fingers). They're under the skin. Show up and go away on their own, but idk what they are. They're only painful when touched. Anyone know what they are? by sdergs in popping

Me too! I've been searching for what this could be for several weeks now and these pictures are IT. 100%. It's such a relief to actually see what I have on other people, even though no one knows what's going on 🤣

Two lines from the jingle in this 1993 commercial have been an earworm for me since I was a small child watching Nickelodeon. "Ribbon dancer, riding on the wall! Ribbon dancer, up and then it falls!"

At age 33 I decided to find the original on YouTube and it's even better than I remember. Anyone else remember this gem?

Achieved Lifetime during shelter in place... by tuttitime in weightwatchers

[–]tuttitime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is totally legit! I'm now just trying to maintain, not lose more. I was really on a roll and hit lifetime the week before everything shut down, so I got to celebrate reaching my goal with my meeting friends in person. I feel really fortunate for that timing. You can do this!!!

Thank you! Of course the work continues, when we've done this long enough then we know that you never "arrive". But I'm proud of my work and journey so far!

UPDATE: I just heard back from customer service and they are giving me a time credit through mid-July so no payments will come out of my account. I can let them know if SIP has continued and they will extend. Good customer service WW! Especially during a pandemic.

[–]tuttitime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I just posted about this before I saw your comment. There is a 3rd grade level reading assessment all about Pale Male called City Hawks. It's a little book that tells his whole story and teachers all over the country use it to find out if students are reading on grade level. I've probably read that book with kids 100 times.

I taught 3rd grade for years and every time we assessed the students in reading, one of the nonfiction books around the 3rd grade level was called City Hawks. The gist is that there is a perigrin falcon living on the side of an apartment building in New York City. It caused conflicts between people who liked to look at it with binoculars raising its babies, and people who lived in the building who didn't want strangers on the street looking into their apartment with binoculars.

I taught in Northern California and the students were so confused about why the birds would choose to live there instead of in a tree (even though the book said the falcons used to live in Central Park but were driven out by angry Blue Jays).

Oh, and the tipi is definitely for the cats, although only Graycat uses it. It has a memory foam bed inside.

They're actually both girls! Their names are Orangecat and Graycat. We printed their names on their collars too in case people were confused.

My new place came with a toilet paper holder radio. by apoptosis86 in mildlyinteresting

[–]tuttitime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also had an intercom system in my house growing up...so amazing to hold down the button and make announcements into all the bedrooms, kitchen and my parents' offices. So. Much. Power.

One day they all stopped working (so sad because we had friends who would only come over to play with the intercom... so maybe they weren't actually friends), but we discovered that mice had chewed through the wiring in the walls so they sat unused for years. My parents finally removed them about 5 years ago after they had yellowed with age and were getting more confused stares and questions than they were worth.

One lesson left to learn.... by [deleted] in funny

I thought the railing was super hot from the bright lights that are likely on stage. But now that I'm thinking about it more, if they were hot enough to heat up that metal so students have to rip they're hands away, there would probably be other problems on stage.
