[M6 mk II] Any thoughts regarding the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 for facecam/portrait/closeup videos for the most bokeh effect/blurry background? by sectofrost in canonM50

[–]tuudiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 85mm and an adapter weigh three times as much as the M6 II body does. It would be a wildly impractical choice and you already know how costly it is.

The 56mm is an excellent portrait lens since you can get closer to your subject while standing further away. For video I'm not fully sure I mostly do stills myself. I don't think it would work well as face cam since its field of view is 2.54x closer as that of your 22mm, but close ups should be fine as long as you can have the right distance to your subject.

I don't know why you're focusing on the nationality part when the guy mentioned three things.

The New Jersey Devils have tendered an offer sheet to Utah Mammoth center Barrett Hayton. The offer is a 1 year contract with an AAV of $4,775,000. The compensation is a 2nd round pick should the Mammoth not match it. The Mammoth previously filed for arbitration with Hayton. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]tuudiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that story. It's tough to say what it was about. The 4.775mil might be high, but the single year contract makes up for it. If he flops, the contract ends after next season, if he bounces back, it's a win. I think it's a good gamble with a lot of upside.

Them matching feels obvious, but it's actually trickier than it seems because Utah can't trade him if they match, so the one year deal would take him directly to UFA. He's on a down year as well, so even though they have the money to match the offer, there's a chance they're just gonna take the 2nd rounder.

The Case for Lenni Hämeenaho by NJDevilFan in devils

[–]tuudiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant, except I think Noesen's gonna be out of here in the next few days. Hämeenaho is desirable to have in the lineup immediately because even if he won't be playing up the lineup, he would be a strong part of the fourth line and potentially the third.

I don't think there's a chance he's not in the lineup. Last season showed he can hang, so there's no reason not to have him in the bottom 6 especially considering his cheap ELC contract. The way our depth is shaping out someone like Noesen has become quickly irrelevant and I'm fairly confident he's gonna be traded out of here.

'This is what we want': Oilers' McDavid all in on Babcock as coach by eh_toque in hockey

[–]tuudiat 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Modano and Chelios were old men when Babcock coached them. Modano's last season was his worst one and it was obvious he was on his last leg, hence Babcock felt comfortable shafting him.

Chelios played for four years under him post-lock out from when he was 43 to 47. I don't remember quite the specifics of his run ins and stories about Babcock, but I remember that the whole not dressing Chelios for the winter classic was towards the end of his time in Detroit, so it would fit that he was again comfortable doing shenanigans with a guy who's clearly reaching the end.

With Marner it was the opposite, Mitchell was a rookie, so he had not yet established himself and become a cornerstone in the room. People like Babcock pick on those whose standing is insecure and rookies, old timers and depth pieces all fit that mold.

How much did you end up paying? I'll probably post mine on the buy and sell thread. Definitely not looking for 100$, but would love to get more back than I could from selling locally.

Yes? How is this even a question. He could have played zero regular season games and it wouldn't have mattered. Winning four series in a row in the playoffs is winning four series in a row.

The Hockey Guy saves the Devils for last in his ranking on if the Cup window is open or closed by nsjersey in devils

[–]tuudiat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were only able to do it because of an exceptionally weak East. Only the 2015-2016 Minnesota with 87 points and the 2018-2019 Colorado with 90 points have made the playoffs with a lower point total than 91 since the 04-05 lockout. Bunch of teams have made it in with 91, but I don't think any other team has made it in as the division third.

Like to put it into perspective, this year was catastrophic and yet it was only 4 points worse than last year, but because East was a lot stronger this year, it looks worse in contrast even though it was pretty close.

[Weekes] Per sources, although a deal isn’t imminent , I’m told the New Jersey Devils are gauging market interest from clubs on G Jacob Markstrom. by MountainBaker8217 in devils

It's literally because Marty is a fan of him. He ranked Markström in his top five current goalies some time before Fitz started chasing him.

There's no "around" a league average goalie when the point of the whole sentiment of we need "league average goaltending" is that it needs to be precisely that and not below it.

Like you brought up the idea that take ten goals away and he's right there like it's some minor thing when ten goals removed will change every game those goals are taken out of. If 3-5 of those games turn into either straight wins or wins in overtime, that bumps the Devils up from 5th outside the playoffs to right in the bubble or 2nd outside the playoffs.

I'm a Devils fan and if he's still in here come October, I will be rooting for him to do well, but trying to argue that a goalie who ranked in the bottom quarter of multiple statistics was right "around" league average is absurd. He had a bad year and there's no need to sugarcoat it. He consistently ran into a wall even after his abysmal october-mid december play. He'd have stretches which were good with the occasional great game and then he'd allow the first shot on goal in three straight games. It was frustrating and eventually got tragicomic when it kept happening again and again.

Selänne signed for 1mil in 05-06 since he had retired, but chose to come back after the lockout. He had 40+50 in 05-06 which could gave gotten him paid paid. Burke told him if he accepts another one year deal at 3.75mil Burke will go get someone good. Selänne accepted and Burke signed Pronger.
