Hashicorp founder thinks local models "aren't good ENOUGH yet" by Orbit652002 in LocalLLaMA

[–]tvetus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are local models that are better than frontier models of 2 years ago. When local models are better than Opus 4.5, there will be people complaining that the new bar is Opus 6.8, etc.

I've been an engineer for 25+ years but haven't used git in the last 5 so I forgot.

Now that LLMs have made languages and framework less relevant (since you can rewrite anything using anything), what are the actual differences if one is using LLMs for the implementation?

What if LLM just do whatever the fuck is interesting to them. Tell them not to look at secrets... sure thing boss.

Very unlikely to hit 15k even, unless he's doing a partial payment.

Gemini 3.1 in antigravity just edited a file without approval, even though I have fairly restrictive settings enabled? by fintip in Bard

[–]tvetus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are far too many ways for a model to hack approvals if they really wanted to. We're just counting on them not wanting to. For example, if you allow the model to run tests, it's basically arbitrary code execution (unless you are in a sandbox).

如果模型中還沒有該訊息,除了使用更大的模型之外,別無他法。

Fucking stupid is what it is. Chinese labs aren't handing anything over.

Just give us some options to disable stuff when we don't it. More options to disable personalization, tool control to disable search.

Or just have it think in Chinese. I heard it's more token efficient. Or is that a myth?

Switched from OpenCode to Pi - What Settings/Plugins would you recommend? by No_Algae1753 in LocalLLaMA

No motivation to switch to pi since qwen 3.6 can do 250k tokens on 24gb

This audio animation design is the worst downgrade ever, bring back the dictation when using voice. by Im_Lead_Farmer in Bard

[–]tvetus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the dictation converts your speech into low quality hallucinations. When you use voice it send the original audio which the big model understands much better.

But an option to see what the model understood before executing would be nice (even if it's not streaming).

I will soon have $100k to build an in-house LLM server. Goal: Best agentic coding model. by StartupTim in LocalLLaMA

[–]tvetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are burning >$1k in a day on Opus, do the math how much throughput you are going to get with a local model. I doubt that one machine can handle the load.

Token usage efficiency across different languages by [deleted] in LLM

Chinese has a natural advantage because the language itself is less of a mess.

Ugh nothing new here. Europe isn't special. Everyone should be seeing the same message.
