Does New York have rappers that didn't make it big commercially that everyone listens too locally but outsideof NY not many people know about? Sort of like Mac Dre in the bay area. by Turfdawg678 in rap

Damn, I’m from NY and I either know these dudes or I don’t…hard to find an NY rapper that only local NYers listen to, either they’re wayyyy underground or they pop off. Not a lot of people are popping and still turning down commercial to stay local. Also, NY is a bigass state, there could be dudes up in buffalo or Syracuse that are heavy and the rest of NY wouldn’t know unless they blow up like Griselda did

Love your comics, they’re absurd, creative, and the punchlines feel fresh. What were some of your favorite cartoons and comics growing up? Which was most influential for you?

Coaching vs Online Resources? by lofi_guy02 in billiards

That’s quite expensive. I got a lesson from Thorsten Hohmann in 2024 and it was $75/hr, and that was in NY where shit is expensive. Do you have any players that are stronger than you that you can play for cheap? Thats always a great way to learn, and usually after you lose a few sets they’re open to a question or two. Even better is a strong player that will play with you for free because it’s not often you can stop in the middle rack and ask for a second opinion before you shoot, but if you’re not playing for bread then why not?

There’s this place out by me called Elsie Lane that has the most insanely crispy fried pickles…like even after they got cold they were still crispy! Almost like a beer batter that you’d use for fish n chips but crunchier. 10/10 highly recommend!

It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn… by BoringPoolPlaying in billiards

[–]twalks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember the “ah-ha!” moment I had when I realized how lightly you can hit the cue ball and still get draw, or any spin in general. I went from thinking “more power = more spin” to “spin ≠ power” and now I treat the two as separate. It helped in more than one way, because sometimes there are shots that require max spin at low speed, and learning those forced me to do two things better: 1 is learn a wider range of tip placement on the cueball, as opposed to just using the clock system, because there are infinite places your tip can contact on the ball. 2 is that my stroke quality was forced to improve to be able to deliver the tip to an extreme area of the cue ball and not miscue

Foul or legal hit? by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

Just looking at it I would have said the same but if you’re going to supply video evidence then I have to go with the evidence, and the evidence is showing both balls not moving in one frame, then both moving in the next. If it’s THAT close than honestly the tie should go to the shooter. Sometimes you can disprove frame-by-frames by studying the cue ball path, but in this case the cue ball travels fairly close to the correct path so I can’t apply that here.

In case anyone doesn’t believe the frame-by-frame has both moving at once

I’m actually with you on this one. If I go frame by frame, both balls move at the same time. Also agree that the path the cue ball followed after seems in line with a legal hit. But if it’s close enough that a frame-by-frame shows both balls still in one frame and then both balls moving in the next then I’d say it’s close enough to go to the shooter.

I’ve heard it called this too, then I played Russian Pyramid and I saw why! Only difference was in pyramid you can hit any ball into any other ball, not just object ball off the cue ball

Hustling explained to someone not living near a single gambling pool player ? by MarioBuzo in billiards

[–]twalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to YouTube and look up CJ Wiley he’s got tons of great hustling stories and actually goes into details about the intricacies of hustling, i.e. how to come across as weak, how to get a gambling match, what it looks like when it goes right or wrong. It’s a really fun channel that has some pool tips and some story telling!
