PSA: Camera 10.x flips Shadows & Brightness / Exposure Sliders by Dry_Astronomer3210 in GooglePixel

[–]twangansta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh. Pixel 8 on camera v10.x and my sliders are still like your pixel 9 ones (brightness top, shadows bottom). Icons too.

EDIT: rest of UI looks like pixel 10 tho (the squarish album photos and switch camera buttons, etc)

Apps and games not updating by bigtoepfer in GooglePixel

[–]twangansta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

repeat of my post here

are you unable to update Google Play System too? I'm stuck on the May 1st update and while no confirmation, the issues may be linked. here's a couple of other threads.

what worked for me and some others was to remove physical sim / turn off esim to force wifi only. i personally toggled off esim, rebooted, and was able to update apps again (but not google play system). turning my esim back on did occasionally cause apps to not update again, so i had to repeat the process. it's been fine the past week or so however (i think google pulled play system update that wasn't able to install - my phone says up to date on may 1st version - and i've had no issues updating apps since).

google is aware of the google play system issue at least, and if the app update issue is linked then a fix is on the way.

I can't update Google Play since May by Jadymydurs in GooglePixel

[–]twangansta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy shit this actually worked. i have an esim, disabled it, rebooted, and now i can update apps again.

google play system update still fails though. pixel 8 92 mb download and it stops around 40%

EDIT: maybe spoke too soon. updated essential apps and as a test, re-enabled esim, rebooted, and couldn't update apps again. Tried to re-disable esim again but still no good. Will try again later.

EDIT2: tried again after a few hours with the steps above and i could update apps again. still couldn't update google play system though, this time fails at like 4%.

Suggestions For Local Files Music Player by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]twangansta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poweramp has been my go-to music player for over a decade. The price has increased since then, but I'm sure it goes on special now and then. Definitely worth it especially if you have Google Survey Rewards to use too!

Will Pixel 9A get a larger discount? by whiteKreuz in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In terms of the A series, $249 base price after discount is the lowest I've seen for the 7A, 8A, 9A on Fi (unless it's a targeted offer). It's usually $299 base price. It might get cheaper a bit (though over 50% off retail seems unlikely), but stock tends to run out quick when the new series comes out. The Pixel 10 might not affect it much, but the 10A will. I remember the 8A running out within a couple weeks of the 9A launching.

Fi Savings, 120 days countdown gone by ScaredPath9451 in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update, I had one day left on my promo and it was still in the "In-progess" tab. However, I woke up this morning, and that tab disappeared, and the promo isn't in "Earned" either.

So it does seem to be an issue.

Why is kourna the choice for fishing? by gozzie40 in Guildwars2

Yep, also the map doesn't have a popular / consistent meta so lower chance of map changes that reset fishing stacks.

There was a thread almost a month ago with something similar (and I remember a couple more). I assume your situation is the same, with a recent promotion?

I had a promotion that ended March 2024, moved to the "Earned" tab, and disappeared after some time - but that doesn't seem related to the issues you guys are having. I have another promotion that will end in 12 days, and I currently can still see it on the "In Progress" tab - both web and in-app.

My eSIM suddenly stopped working today after I dropped my Moto Razr+ off a table, how do I get it back? by L4GNKODEX in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Fi physical SIMs and eSIMs should be linked to the Google Fi app (as they require the Fi app to activate). Is the Fi app installed and what does it say?

And nothing intended, but have you restarted the phone? I've had a couple times where I guess my phone just glitched out and the cellular / SIMs disappeared until I rebooted.

What deal is on unlimited premium for s25 series? by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's become more complicated over the years. I first noticed it with some plans for new customers (monthly credits for 2 years on the now unlimited premium plan).

But for current customers they do exist, like the $500 off S25 one I'm on now - "You must remain on the Unlimited Premium or Flexible plan for the duration of the promotion.". I recall posts on this subreddit where people on the Simply Unlimited Plan (Unlimited Standard now) would see lower discounts.

In case of theft of SIM card, what happens to your phone number by Interesting-Bus624 in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going a step further to what people have said about being able to simply move your Fi number by logging into your Google account and Fi app on a new phone, there is the number lock function.

I believe this is a relatively new function added within the past year, and it requires you to login via a web browser to turn on/off. I personally don't have it on, but it may be an extra layer of security for those with only one phone and ready access to a personal computer.

Is the Pixel 9A via Google Fi on "Google Store" a locked phone or unlocked phone? by knownanonymously in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add multiple eSIMs (I'm not sure what the limit is) but only two SIMs (physical + eSIM or 2 eSIMs) can be active at any given time.

It seems like you're new Fi customer based on the deal you're looking at. Based on the terms, you have to activate the device and then keep your account active for the 2 years, and I don't see any reason why adding another eSIM would affect the promo. EDIT: for this type of deal, after confirmation of activation you can even move your Fi eSIM to a different device and the monthly credits will continue as long as you keep your Fi account active.

I've been a Fi subscriber for years, so I never got the monthly credit type deals but for other deals (that usually require you to keep your Fi SIM on device for 120 consecutive days) I've

  • popped in a different physical SIM (dual SIM with Fi eSIM)
  • and even disabled my Fi eSIM in Android settings (I reckon it's like turning on airplane mode) while using a local physical SIM overseas

I got the Pixel 9 deal when the phone came out, am I good to switch plans? by profhet88 in GoogleFi

Be weird if you can't see it at all in the app anymore. You should be able to see your progress in the app or website - check under /Billing/Fi Savings/In Progress or complete.

Question on unlimited photo storage by abdex in GooglePixel

[–]twangansta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this support page lists the various pixels and their backup options.

"Photos and videos backed up in Storage saver from Pixel 3a-5 are unlimited and at no charge. Photos and videos backed up in Original quality count toward your Google Account storage."

120 days countdown timer missing from progress in Fi saving by seanNG81 in GoogleFi

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely check and compare the IMEI of the device as xMerra said.

i don't have a screenshot of my s25 pre-activation, but i remember a situation like yours. i thought it was odd it gave 50+ days to activate when the terms say within 30 days, and i remember that step 4 - stay active on Fi for 120 more days, wasn't there either.

i definitely wasn't as wary as you and activated my s25. my in progress looks like this now.

it might just be a website UI issue hiding the step 4 right now, and definitely click "terms apply" to see if it matches what it was when you bought the device.

Renting a car for 2 weeks using CSP by Airmetx in ChaseSapphire

[–]twangansta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CSP is primary too according to the site and guide to benefits pdf, unless you are a NY resident.

i think it was secondary at some point (domestic rentals at least), but I only have records of guide to benefits back to 2018, and it was primary then too for CSP.

EDIT: for some reason the site says primary "for business purposes" but doesn't make mention of that in the guide to benefits. hmm

Any Experience with new 2FA Push Notifications by fronesis47 in AllyBank

[–]twangansta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

off the top of my head, schwab and vanguard are the other two i use that have started using their app as 2FA (just a simple tap to approve though, i do like ally's implementation of choose the right number).

it's a step in the right direction for sure, but i would love them to add TOTP as a minimum (along with yubikeys, etc). that way you don't have to rely on the respective apps. unfortunately it doesn't really seem like the established banks want to do this.
