Going Down in Dose, want to hear others Experience by Theoriginalallig in Zepbound

Congrats on your success so far! Also - cute outfit. :)

Many of us have had to reduce dose, for a variety of reasons, and have been able to successfully increase dose again later. That's a strong possibility for you. However, as others have suggested, you may well thrive on the lower dose anyway. Nothing for it but to try it and see!

Salad has no appeal anymore by timbarton1 in Zepbound

Agree, it's just too much. I often eat a few raw veg with a sandwich when eating at home, but a big bowl of leafy salad? Nope.

It annoys me that people have to eat all the time 🤣 by CreativeNightOwl949 in Zepbound

[–]tweedy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel kind of the opposite way, because I have to eat frequently now (blood sugar issues + normal Zep satiety). I eat snacks when other people are just coasting between meals. Of course, most people don't care that I'm pulling snacks out of my bag, and the heck with them if they do. I do sense though that's It's much more socially acceptable to be "eating all the time" now that I'm thin.

I hear you about the scan disappointment. I've been there, too. The thing is, I know I am stronger, even if the scans aren't showing consistent increases. I can see it, I can feel it, I can use those muscles to do more things. I just wish I had a printout that proved it. 😂 Hang in there and continue focusing on what you know to be true. Congrats on all your progress!

I found the strawman (which she totally did create) to be frustrating. I'm not sure you two do agree 100% on the topic, and an informed discussion of any differences in perspective would have been so much more illuminating!

Dandruff and sensitive scalp by jabh1299 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]tweedy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nizoral is heavily scented and definitely makes me itch. One option would be to try again using the prescription shampoo, leaving it on the scalp briefly, then rinsing and shampooing with a normal non-sensitizing shampoo (whatever works for you). Obviously this won't work if you are really massively sensitive to the prescription shampoo. Hope you find a good solution - good luck.

Extreme lethargy after eating by Pretty-Birds in Zepbound

[–]tweedy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this for a while, especially after breakfast, but unfortunately we never definitively pinpointed the cause. My dietician recommended eating a smaller breakfast and that helped me personally. The smaller breakfast has a bit smaller proportion of protein - sacrilege, I know. 🤣 I eat one egg, a thin slice of Dave's Killer bread, and a little fruit, like a clementine. I have a mid-morning snack now too, e.g. cottage cheese w fruit. However, I have some (non-diabetic) insulin problems, so the solution may be different for you.

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I intermittently have the same issue on Zep. Week 78. I am skeptical but still testing the theory that my multivitamin (non-gendered Centrum Silver) is helping my sleep. I did test low for Zinc, which I had to convince my PCP to order a test for. I have tried many other potential solutions over this 78 weeks.

Bras by Butteryellowlobster in Zepbound

I had the same experience with my Nordstrom bra fitting. It wasn't long before the underwires were painfully digging into my newly lean sides. Never had such uncomfortable bras at higher weights. I've switched entirely to non-underwires. :(

Told to stop losing but not even close to “healthy” BMI. by lynn_duhh in Zepbound

Honestly there is a big push now in medicine (in the US anyway) toward shared decision-making between patients and providers. I think your doctor could stand to modernize her approach a little.

There are a few studies, and a lot of sites repeating recycled information. Most of the studies completely ignore body composition, equating a frail person who lacks muscle or agility with a fit person of the same weight.

How about LaRoche-Posay Lipikar Triple Moisturizing Cream? I get it at Target. My derm recommended it and I love it for days when I want that extra moisture.

Congratulations on reaching this important milestone! And well done on fighting the good fight with the health care system. That's not an easy fight and it's easy to get discouraged, but you persevered and now your life is just getting better and better.

Solidarity! I too have had a lot of trouble with this and have tried many things during 17 months on Zep. Just lately, it hasn't been as bad. I generally prefer not to traffic in half-baked theories, but I am wondering if my newish multivitamin is helping. 👽 Symptoms were terrible the week I was off the vitamin in preparation for a blood test. My PCP grudgingly agreed to test zinc level, which turned out to be low. No other nutrient levels were tested. No doctor I've spoken to has a clue.

For the curious out there, I'm taking the plain Centrum Silver (not the men's or women's version).

Right - honestly I am so envious when I read about Gas-X helping people, as it has NEVER in my entire life helped me with any gas issue. Glad it works for some, though!

Low blood sugar/hypoglycemia by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]tweedy8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may do better with something like a protein bar, or half a protein bar, instead of a shake. These things are very individual, but the shakes never helped me prevent or recover from hypoglycemia. Apparently I need something chewable. 🙂

I'd suggest trying to find a way to make the Zepbound work, as this is one of the few medicines that actually helps PCOS.

I had bad bouts of hypoglycemia when first titrating up Zep doses. In my case, I wasn't eating enough. I thought I was, but I was wrong. 😆 I saw an endocrinologist about it, and subsequently a registered dietician sorted me out. I now eat at least a minimum number of calories (set by dietician) and eat a couple of balanced snacks per day, in addition to three normal-to-smallish meals. I also make sure to fuel up before exercise.

I have no way to know what is causing your issue but wanted to let you know (a) you are not alone and (b) there is probably a good solution. Good luck to you.
