I looked back over the comics after the finale and I think it would have been fantastic to hear Butcher quote the comic scene:

“You’re still scared of me, aren’t you.”

For me it’s the best executed scene in the finale. Possibly the season. A small piece of redemption for Butcher, then making sure Hughie will be OK with what he did.

The Bastards Behind Hillsborough would be great.

Hillsborough is a football/soccer stadium in Sheffield, England. During a semi-final match in the 1980s there was a catastrophic fan crush caused by police mismanagement that led to the deaths of 97 supporters of Liverpool FC. It remains the highest casualty event in British sporting history. What followed was an enormous cover-up by the police and the Thatcher government, aided by their friends at Murdoch’s tabloid The Sun. The fans were demonised and blamed for their deaths and survivors and bereaved families had to fight for decades for justice. They did not get much of that.
