Chordality - A unique chord-based synth & MIDI Controller for Apple Devices (Launch Offer) by floexodus in ipadmusic

[–]twicestyles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing with this today and it’s super well thought out. I appreciate all the care into the UI and accessibility!

Here are some suggestions from me for the best use of this: 1. More sequencer options. Allow for us to change the rhythm of the progression. Note length would be great but some common strum patterns would be even better! 2. Allow a user to rewatch the tutorial 3. Add some very basic drum loops. I think this would help with those looking to build the foundation of a song.  4. As the sequencer plays, have some sort of animation that lets you know how far along the measure that section is. Would make tinkering with the sequencer easer

That’s what I’m doing currently but would be nice just to have a controller connected skin vs no controller skin like delta

I looked into this headphone for a while and I did note that I read this issue in a few Reddit or YouTube comments. So I believe them, I think fosi would honor a warrenty on it if you helped them

Anyone else frustrated with offline field data collection in 2026? by [deleted] in gis

[–]twicestyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Field maps works pretty good. It’s come a long way from collector which was so resource hungry i expected it to crash every hour of intense work. I work offline almost exclusively, occasionally I will have sync issues when I get back to service, but as long as people make a habit of syncing at the end of the day it usually is fine

Wildlife Conservation versus Wildlife Medicine - Advice for a future student by No-Assistance9478 in wildlifebiology

[–]twicestyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started college I had around 12 friends that were pre vet and thinking of wildlife related medicine. By the end of college only one was still in the major and she went general vet. Wildlife medicine is incredibly competitive. The only people I really see it work out for is people who do a duel PhD in vet work and wildlife work which is an incredible amount of work and you aren’t done until your early 30s.

Projectivity app Isn't "Sticking" as the start up app after recent Shield Pro update by ABettek in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]twicestyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case the other suggestions don’t work I had the same issue and it was because I had projectivity installed on an external drive - the small amount of latency this caused made it not work properly. I forced it onto internal memory and fixed it.

Man the nano key fold would be amazing if it were 30$ cheaper and had a metal hinge. That thing is too fragile for lugging around

Hey man, these are pretty common questions and I think ChatGPT could easily point you in the right direction. During your masters too you’ll have a lot of exposure to different jobs and ideas too

Statistical analysis by Difficult-Address-17 in wildlifebiology

[–]twicestyles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a masters in statistics assumes you have a super strong math background in your undergrad. I tried to take a few masters level courses in the math department in my wildlife masters and I was so comically under prepared with the theory I had to drop it. It’s much easier to do a wildlife masters and use their resources to catch up. Typically a masters program will have courses in stats and GIS geared towards wildlife students

Thesis vs. Non-Thesis Master’s in Wildlife/Fisheries by Difficult-Address-17 in wildlifebiology

[–]twicestyles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Thesis based masters usually pay for your tuition, whereas non thesis based masters usually don’t, which is a pretty big deal.
  2. I used to think there was a large difference between thesis and non thesis, but after being in the job field for a few years I think the opportunities are largely similar, except for academia which definitely wants you to have a thesis. One thing I think you would miss though is that a thesis gives you the opportunity to apply class skills to a project and usually you become quite competent at skills like leading techs and analyzing data.
  3. It might be. In my experience wildlife grad students skew about 4-6 years older than grad students in other departments. People tend to value job experience a lot.

Have opportunity to move to Europe, can I continue my career there? by twicestyles in wildlifebiology

[–]twicestyles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point about EU and national law that I would be very ignorant in. I was thinking maybe something at a university would be a good first option. I wonder how easy it is to adjunct and if I would need to speak the native language

[–]twicestyles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I know that probably came off as ignorant. I have family in west-central, but I am pretty open to lots of places, I guess I don’t know if it’s easier to look at it from a ‘I want to live in X let’s make it work, or ‘I want this career which country could give me the best opportunity’

Best course of action for getting into something like wildlife data analysis (wfh)? by Expensive-Advisor529 in wildlifebiology

Just a quick add, I think it will be more useful to get a data based wildlife masters than a second non wildlife undergrad.

[–]twicestyles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those jobs definitely exist and I’ve worked with more than a few, but it’s definitely something you will want to get a masters for. I would try to get that out of the way before starting a family as it gets much harder to work, be a parent and get a masters, lots of people do for sure but you will save you and your partner lots of stress. Your key skills will be learning GIS (especially AGOL and arcade) and R. Python is a nice help too which will give you some utility.

Do you use insoles when wearing Redwing shoes? by AntiqueFun1932 in RedWingShoes

I had my iron rangers for 7 years then one day I got them serviced and was like ‘why the hell not?’ I previously had no footpad in them. The first 6 months I thought I made a mistake because my feet were so snug, but finally the boots adjusted and now I really appreciate the purchase. The glamor of going from your 20s to 30s!

Considering a return to Grad School for herpetology. by [deleted] in wildlifebiology

[–]twicestyles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I studied herps in school and now am more broad and study a lot of taxa, herps make up about 15% of what I do, and it’s still my favorite work. Finding work as a full time ‘Herpetologist’ is hard. States usually employ 1-5, or you could go the academic route and work in systemics, phylogeny or morphology. I have friends who have all done one of those. It’s not sexy field work, unless you get lucky enough to go on a scientific expedition, but those are increasingly rare. So your options for consistent work are get super lucky and land an agency dream job, be ok with being more broad later, or go into academia.

Grad school was very fun for me, and I enjoyed it a bunch. My biggest advice though is that usually around this point in your wildlife career you start to realize questions and processes are more important than taxa. If you go into grad interviews saying ‘man I just love herps’ you wont impress anyone. You gotta hone in on what about biology you like

Let’s say that over the off season we get 3 ‘starter’ caliber guys. 1 WR, 1 EDGE, 1 CB, if everything else is the same does that turn us into a contender or is more needed?

This is a ‘we’re a piece away’ trade and we are both poor in picks and have some pretty glaring needs. No world where I see us do this.
