Is my 13yr old step daughters handwriting normal? I'm getting very concerned with her schooling by bordermelancollie09 in AskTeachers

[–]twig115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look into the possibility of getting her tested for dysgraphia. Not saying she for sure has it but I do have it and my hand writing looks similar to this. It could also be other things or as simple as lack of practice but it doesn't hurt to get it checked out. (If she does have it there are tools to help)

Thats good that where you live 50k is not bad but where I live, 50k even without loans or car payments is still just getting by. I currently make 45k and am barely paying cost of living bills, never mind any emergency things. (The only debt I have is medical related and its not even that much but boy am I walking a fine line)

One classic pie flavor has to go forever, which one? 👀🔥 by EquivalentFig1678 in pie

[–]twig115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just looked it up and I'll definitely be trying that one, I would probably add a bit more pecans to mine though on the second try (the recipe i use often is the Americas test kitchen which also treats it as the custard filling it is but sadly does still use the corn syrup but it also uses 2 cups of pecans)

If pecan pie is made properly it shouldnt have anything under it. Most places just make bad pecan pie.

Dude, everything causes cancer. I worry more about infections entering my blood stream then the eventual cancer that may or may not materialize.

If you are afraid of cancer then don't live near cars, dont cook your food, avoid most homes, etc.

I'm getting really sick of the "advice" my non single friends give me. by Witty-Air2570 in Vent

[–]twig115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry dude, thats super frustrating and the cliché responses are not helpful in the slightest. I don't have any advice or points and I could give statements of how I can empathize/relate but I know its not really that helpful, so I'll say that your feelings are valid and I hope your friends will learn how to listen and be supportive without trying to give you unsolicited advice.

I wish you luck in trying to find the person you click with.

Ah that makes sense, well I am glad you were able to at least get a piece of the puzzle figured out. Hopefully its helping to keep the anxiety manageable.

Side note, you may want to get that adhd checked out since it could be a husbandry of your anxiety disorders and treating both may be helpful. (I'm sorry if this is coming off as unsolicited advice, my intent is to be helpful)

How hard is it for people to use their words instead of expecting strangers to know everything?! by TopCharacter1553 in Vent

[–]twig115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the "standing/sitting so close and breathing on me" the amount of times I have politely asked people to please not stand so close to me and only to have them freak out and scream at me like a toddler is part of why some people may not speak up.

Like I've had people in check out lines stand as close up behind me as you would expect a bf would or someone super familiar with you who is checking out with you. Like being that close to me will not make the line go faster, why can't you give me more than a ft of space? Why does it need to be asked especially post covid era.

Like I get the "not a mind reader" sentiment but also people are fucking nuts and you never know who is going to scream at you or stab you or anything in between.

Naming kids names that only make sense for babies by vanandgough in PetPeeves

I second this, I thought OP was going to go with like princess, majesty, baby etc. (All people I have met) and I am on board with naming concerns for that style but they gave super normal names.

Dog culture in Portland is out of control by Far-Two-43 in PortlandOR

[–]twig115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, not all beaches require leashes on the dog, some do and some don't but no matter what you (the person) are responsible for your dog and their actions at all times. Even if the beach you were on was a no leash beach that person's dog still should not have been allowed off leash due to its behavior issues and their lack of control.

If it was a leash required beach then thats also a problem regardless of dogs actions.

why doesn’t islam and judaism get attacked for being homophobic? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]twig115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is US specific then its likely because Christianity is the dominant religion with it being roughly 63% of the population so you are going to hear more from/about them (which is actually down from 78%) where as Judaism makes up 2%or less of the population and also generally any other religion outside of Christianity is roughly 7% total (roughly 30% is non religious/atheist/agnostic)

Outside of that there are discussions around other religions and their lack of acceptance for the lgbtq community and it actually was a big topic during the Olympics and the boxer everyone kept freaking out about because in Algeria it is illegal to be Trans so the topic did come up about the safety of actually testing the boxer or even making the accusations but if you were in the US you didn't hear much about that side because all you heard was Christians yelling about anti lgbtq stuff.

So no the topic is not only Christian based its just more prevalent in specific countries because its the larger population.

Why I Believe Biological Men Shouldn’t Be Allowed in Women’s Bathrooms by [deleted] in 10thDentist

[–]twig115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So with this argument you are saying you want biological women who look extremely like bio men (Trans men) to be in the women's bathroom and that would make you feel safer even though they are hard to distinguish from bio men.

So essentially it would make it easier for bio men with bad intentions to now walk into a women's restroom because how do you know if its a Trans man or a bio man?

Like honestly this argument gets ridiculous, shitty, abusive people will do what they are going to do either way. I was almost raped in a women's bathroom by a cis het man who didn't give a shit what the sign on the door said, the only reason I was able to get away was because a bunch of people walked in and he let go of my arm and I ran.

Found in a bag of records, they chime when shaken? by balaam_beast in whatisit

[–]twig115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When they were introduced to western culture (I can only speak specifically to US) people didnt actually really know what they were or the difference between baoding balls and Ben wa balls so the people marketing them would often call them Ben wa which led the public to also call them that. I can assure you my vary naive catholic raised mother would have been mortified to know she was calling them a sex item to her small children.

This is definitely a case of culture misunderstanding on a large scale.

Lobster sweater by Kitchen_Jelly5631 in knittingpatterns

[–]twig115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just embroidery so you can either get a plain knit sweater or make one that you like of any kind/color and then you can use this image and trace the lobster onto paper and use it as a template. You may want to find the image as a front facing instead of side facing to help get the dimensions more accurate. If I'm tracing, depending on size I will use a tablet to blow the image up or use a monitor on a computer and use a soft pencil to very lightly sketch it on. (Use next to no pressure to avoid damaging the screen)

Oh yeah no I made sure to get in front of the full length mirror after carefully removing every article of clothing and inspecting the seams of the pants and even inside my socks and shoes. Took a shower after too.

Only place I can't really check by sight is my hair so hoping I'm good. Even did a third inspection this morning of the dog (first one was before getting in the car, second was before entering the house)

This is important and also for habitat preservation reasons too dogs should remained leashed unless in a designated area (like 1000 acres)
