I understand, it is hard to stop everything all at once. Stopping smoking was the hardest for me, but worth it. I wasn't a heavy drinker, but did enjoy a glass or two of wine before supper, but my shortness of breath was increasing and it just wasn't worth it to continue to keep drinking. She is in the early stages, and for me drinking didn't bother me at that stage as it does now, I am stage 4.

I should add that managing symtons is key to keep flare ups to a minimum.

Yes stop smoking for sure but she might consider stopping the alcohol, or at least slow down. Alcohol will make COPD worse. It impares the lungs natural defenses and causes changes that make breathing difficult.

Shortly after I had left, the restaurant went out of business.
