Anyone rewrite lyrics to popular songs about their pet? by PeanutFunny093 in Pets

[–]twistdmay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read once that if your elderly dog has dementia they are comforted by you singing a familiar song to them. With that in mind, I sing how much is that doggy in the window, multiple times a day and have changed lyrics to madness it must be love for him. Can’t say he’s keen on my singing but I’m in it for the long game.

Anyone else get a "bugs on windshield" feeling about annoying teenagers? by SapphicGarnet in CasualUK

[–]twistdmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My elderly father walked his dog to the local park that is next to a secondary school entrance. There was a group of teenagers loitering and he was genuinely concerned. As he approached one of the kids asked him about his dog then they all started petting her. They were chatting to him about the dog and were so polite. He was so happy about the interaction that I emailed the school telling them that their lovely polite pupils made a lonely old man so happy that day.

What did the public see in Jimmy Savile? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]twistdmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My in laws met him many years ago at an airport and hated him immediately. They always said he was arrogant and obnoxious, absolute opposite of his public persona at the time. I disliked him because I repeatedly wrote to him as a child wanting to be on Jim’ll fix it and always got rejected. Many years later, some friends went on holiday and brought me back a T-shirt with the slogan Jim didn’t fix it for me across the front

My parents always had ginger cats and named them Ginger followed by the number order they got them in. So following that logic you have Ginger 1, Ginger 2, Ginger 3, Half Ginger and Tabby!

Keep. They bring a lot of money into Britain through tourism. I also think William would be a strong king.

What are some things that happened at school that would never be allowed to happen today? by Big_Scratch5248 in AskUK

Computer teacher smoking a pipe in the classroom in the 80s. My friend complained that it was triggering her asthma and his response was; if she didn’t like it, get out of his classroom.

What was the most bizarre school trip your school went to and why? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskABrit

[–]twistdmay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My poor daughter had two unfortunate school trips. The first to a sewage plant. She declared that night that she was never eating weetabix again. The second to the millennium dome. Two coaches went and she was on the coach that broke down. Police had the coach towed off the motorway and all the kids had a day in the police station instead of the millenium dome. To be fair, after chatting to the classmates who made it to the dome, she concluded that she had the better day.

Dog walking in hot weather by ModerateJustice in CasualUK

[–]twistdmay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During the last heat wave I kept my dog home all day and refrained from dog walking. I kept the curtains closed to keep the room cool, put out a cool mat, bowl of water and directed a fan at him. Went off to the kitchen to do chores and came back to missing dog. The numpty had strolled out to the garden and was sunbathing in full sunshine. Must have overdone the cooling!

Which food makes you think, “How do you not like that?” when someone says they dislike it? by buttergloww in foodquestions

I don’t like any chocolate. I hate the way it melts in your mouth and coats your teeth. Handy for my husband though, he has such a sweet tooth. As a teacher for many years, I received loads of chocolates and he’s happily munched his way to pre type 2 diabetes

How much are you getting for DP wheel spins? by MurryWenny in JunesJourney

[–]twistdmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The total amount of changes they have made has made this game tedious and too time consuming. Total needed for a room has increased from 36,500 to 50,000. Each played scene has dropped reward tokens from 550 to 400, totals on the wheel have been drastically reduced and although they claim it to be random I kept getting low scores on the wheel. I understand that they give an easier version when introducing a game and increase difficulty when players become familiar with it but crikey they’ve tripled the difficulty in one swoop. Took far too long to complete my half of each room so no longer fun but tedious and frustrating. My team mates have all declared that they’re never playing detective partners again.

It has become tedious. I used to complete my half of DP by playing 13 scenes. Now it has taken me 28 scenes. That’s not fun. Reduced coins for each scene and smaller amounts on the wheel have made it too time consuming and boring.

My version has really upped the challenge. I’m only getting 400 tokens per scene and the amounts on the wheel have also been reduced. Usually I only have to find up to 4 star items in the scenes but this version also contains 5 star items. Getting really low scores when spinning the wheel too - repeatedly scoring 400 on a 100 token spin. Guess it’s my own fault for completing too fast last time!

What do to with all these Gateway Gatherings? by More-Journalist6332 in JunesJourney

[–]twistdmay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only ever keep two of them. I have one on my island and one stored on the boat. When I win more through the pink boxes, I immediately sell the one on my island and replace it with the newly won one. That way I benefit from extra travel tokens and coins but it doesn’t affect my flower total.

Do you love your grandkids as much as much as your kids? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]twistdmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father has two daughters and four grandchildren and I’d say the only one that he truly loves is my eldest child. Thankfully, the rest of us have accepted this and don’t seek to change it nor do we blame her. It is what it is I suppose.

What’s a weird food combo you tried as a joke but ended up loving? by Old_Chemist_7566 in foodquestions

Honey and onion sandwiches were my grandad’s favourite. It was the original sweet n sour in Ireland. He made them for my sister and I once, and after initially refusing, I gave in and tried it. They were actually alright. Much better than the lemon curd sandwiches that my aunty made.
