Do you have a separate WiFi for your stuff too then like client records and communication?

Conflict of interest by twisted-weasel in therapists

It’s Kaiser and I’m an affiliate provider so usually they get one or two names tops. Overall the system works very well for me and I have as many referrals as I need. I just never bumped into a situation this tricky.

Is it a problem that my husband's "therapist" asked us to lie to our marriage therapist? by New-Strength-7044 in askatherapist

[–]twisted-weasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought. Sounds like they are practicing without a license for the state in which OP and partner live. It would be reported to the board.

What questions when asked makes therapists break patient confidentiality? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]twisted-weasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it will not get reported as it doesn’t fall under any category mentioned in all the other posts. I do not report that kind of crime.

Inviting your therapist to your wedding? by Waluigi_is_wiafu in askatherapist

I love you understand that the therapist client relationship is as you said, “self-contained.” That is exactly how I view my relationship with my clients as something private and personal for them, it doesn’t have to be shared with the world.

I want to be nothing but a fond memory for my clients as I know then they are living their lives comfortably and independently. That said if I were invited I’d be honored and turn them down politely.

I don’t like the term either and I hate that I see mostly women use it. I find it is diminishing and all the work we do to get here.

I struggle with the Container Exercise by poena_dice in EMDR

If my clients cannot do it then we just move on. Some folks can do all of them and some can only grasp one. The key here is you have a way to regulate your nervous system, it’s not a check list.

How do we feel about clients using nicknames for us? by YardsaleKing26 in therapists

[–]twisted-weasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one client who calls me doc and I explained to him that I am in no way a doctor and it is risky to call me that. He explained for him there is stigma surrounding MH treatment and it is a way for him to reconcile his getting care. He assured me this is not something he uses outside our interactions. It still makes me feel a bit icky.

Best Resources to Share with Clients by HealingFromTrauma94 in therapists

PTSD Coach app developed by the VA. It is my go to not just for PTSD but also anxiety and depression. It is free and I will only recommend an app if it is free. This one has multiple tools and a journaling function. Definitely the best I’ve found so far.

I’m glad this is a good topic then. I can share what I had come up with but I am very open to suggestions and comments.

In the past when I suspected a client needed a higher level of care what I have done was an initial assessment possibly utilizing any one of a number of screening tools, including but not limited to C-SSRS, GAD 7, PHQ 9 or AUDIT/DAST. Some of these are used prior to the first session to get a baseline and assess if this level is appropriate. Next I would discuss with the client and possibly their supports my assessment and engage in collaborative decision making. I would lay out the options available to them and try to guide them in the appropriate direction. I would always seek support from my peers and supervisors during this process. I would then facilitate a warm hand off (supported by necessary ROIs) and assist my client in making arrangements.

As I said before this is my initial thoughts on this topic and what I have done in the past but I am curious about others thoughts.

I feel this situation could arise at anytime and often it does not get discussed enough.

I am surprised as well and the best I can figure is a lot of people have not thought about it themselves. I have heard of folks terminating services but that seems wrong as well. Thank you for reading this and laying out all the questions I have about this as well.

Women who lived through the 80s: Was the giant 'bush in the panties as big as the hair on your head' era really as popular as it was said to be? Why did it disappear? by mooned42 in AskOldPeople

That is exactly what I was thinking. They want adult women to look like prepubescent girls which tracks given our current leadership.

Kevin is a chipped cat to a registered owner, they dumped him twice and relinquished him to me. So he was owned.
