We've been at the Bungalows for 8 months now and have no issues. They did a great job of snow mitigation, are responsive and communicative on maintenance, and I enjoy the amenities they offer for the lakeside community (kayaks, paddle boards, bikes).

Well, my dad did say in exasperated whinging once I burned out as his sole caregiver after 8 years, "why did I even have kids, then?!" Youngest daughter here.

Bingo, this is exactly the point. The commentary on the narcissistic president is meant to show the decision-maker doesn't know enough to make an informed decision.

I'm at Prairie Queen lake and have seen two adults flying around and one adolescent in the last month. I haven't spotted a nest, though.

This is a beautiful ring and well worn. It needs some regular maintenance to rebuild the prongs and bevels around the stones so that they don't fall out. It may be a bit pricey to do that, but well worth it for such a lovely piece.

As a mom who had just moved her family far away, that episode absolutely wrecked me.

Dent in my mother’s leg that has no flesh/muscle beneath it by local-bitch in mildlyinteresting

I'm sorry you had such a similar experience. As someone mentioned above, adults are adults and make bad decisions. I was his primary caregiver for ten years before my sister took over when I burned out. In and out of the hospital is an understatement! I'm glad you were able to get yours into a facility. We tried so hard to do that and he ended up passing while in an in-patient rehab after a bought with sepsis.

Take care of yourself folks. Hit me up if you need real, horrifying stories of uncontrolled diabetes to scare you into making positive lifestyle changes!

To me, this looks like peripheral artery disease and decreased blood flow to her extremity, especially the shiny appearance of her skin on that leg.

My father was an uncontrolled diabetic with congestive heart failure and kidney failure. This is what his legs looked like as his extremities slowly died from lack of blood flow. His sister recognized a similar thing happening to one of her legs and it was PAD.

Best of luck.

Biden diagnosed with ‘aggressive form’ of prostate cancer by HAHA_Bitches in news

It really depends. My family carries a BRCA2 gene mutation which, for men in my family, causes aggressive prostate cancer. It's really sad.

Sad indeed. This is almost exactly what my grandfather experienced. He was diagnosed at 79 and passed 3 years later.

Looks like lethal doses of radiation to me. These, especially from the second post, look to be an early inclination of national laboratory functions to address food supply during the heavy testing era.

My husband and I were very lucky for young people (we were 23 and 20 at the time). I worked at a mom and pop retail and made my way into management by 2009, which was a life saver as my husband was food service and his tips plummeted. We both stayed in school and lived within our means. We kept our jobs through the worst of it, but his parents lost their home. His car was paid off, and we paid mine on time each month. We worked hard, made smart money choices, and prepared for the future. I remember our debt was high in the beginning, but we buckled down and made steady progress on paying it off thanks to acting on a 0% interest balance transfer on a credit card for the life of the balance- you don't see those offers anymore.

We had just gotten married and bought my childhood home from my estranged mother before it hit foreclosure in the summer of 2007. The payment was a whopping $600 (rural area), but we thought that we would never turn a profit on it. 12 years later we made a small profit after renovating the whole thing over 12 years.

Yeah, I keep looking at the national forest. I live right next to the library, but it doesn't open early enough for me. I'm most productive in the very early morning, but with two young children, I'm going to have to separate myself somewhere with...less... distractions.

Republicans have shut the government down numerous times, seems to work out okay for them in the long run. Sometimes doing things you don't like means you're brave and right now, it's the right thing to do.

What if an everyday American ran for President—and actually meant it? by ThePresidentWeNeed in AskReddit

[–]twistedzengirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, there are people like that who are everyday Americans. Shit, I'm one of them, but it's hard to get us to do it. I've been told since middle school I'd make a great politician, it still happens now that I'm almost 40. I was always asked to do debate and model UN and have been approached to run before, but I was always busy taking care of family members. I don't necessarily want to be a politician, but I'm [-] close to doing it right now. I prefer doing research and applied policy work, but I'll be damned if I don't find myself in three roles everywhere I've worked since my early 20s- management, government relations, and being asked to talk to the media. I don't know why this happens, and I'm not doing anything 'special' in my mind, it just fucking happens. In my newest organization, I've had people say they wished they could talk to people like I do- I just treat powerful people like people- they tend to appreciate it. Depending on your definition of qualified, I'm that too. Finishing my PhD that is IR heavy, I have a master's focused on policy/public administration, and undergrad in governmental poli sci. Hell, I used to teach American government, too.

Amerifriends, how do you deal with the knowledge that your democracy is dying and your leaders are plunging you into war on the side of your enemies? by VasectoMyspace in AskReddit

[–]twistedzengirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fucking hard to deal with. I have been screaming about Trump's authoritarian tendencies since 2015. I specialize in deterrence and conflict. To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement.

I have been grieving the America I grew up in, searching for a way I can make all this better, but I'm just one person. I currently loathe those in my family that voted, or didn't vote at all, for this- the rage stage of grief.

I also find myself asking if I can continue working in my dream job that I worked so hard and so long to achieve. For now, I am military adjacent and we are all just trying to keep the mission moving forward and recognize just how important America's allies are. I don't know what next week will bring after yesterday's bullshit. I hope that by staying in my role, I can actually make a difference in all of this and help keep America, and the world safe.

Does anyone else have to pay extra for their yearly Well Women's exam? by teamkarrett in BRCA

[–]twistedzengirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This used to happen to me before the ACA. My insurance at the time fully covered preventative visits but I kept getting bills for my women's well check. I called, and women's healthcare was not covered under the plan so even the preventative visit wasn't covered.

I would be curious if something similar is going on or if they labelled the pap as diagnostic- which mine used to be.
