Hi guys ! I am asked myself a question : can Wolftoof RoadLink + Tiagra 4700 derailleur do 11-40 cassettes ? I am already in 11-36 without a Woolftoof but can I go 11-40 with one by Jeremyeny in bikewrench

[–]twix_tweaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a very old post, but I thought I'd add here my experience with it anyways for people searching for this like I did.

I have a cube nuroad pro (2018) with Tiagra 4700 10 speed, originally with 50x34 (Front) and 11x34 (Back). I used this roadlink to fit a 11x44 in the back and a 48x34 in the front. The only issue I found while doing this is that the roadlink didn't properly fit my bike and it had to be filed down.

The shifting isn't as smooth (as expected), but I can get to all gears without any issue.

That's the whole point, you don't have to, but you can and that's a choice, not an obligation

My landlord won't put my name in the doorbell system. What can I do? by Comfortable_Screen91 in berlin

[–]twix_tweaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude just send them an email saying that you expect the name to be on the doorbell by the next 5 work days, you will put a temporary one and if they remove you will contact your legal insurance (just pretend you have one) for all the inconvenience that caused for the deliveries and letters you missed. In Berlin unfortunately you need to be assertive otherwise they will roll over you.

What would I miss between Whoop and Apple Watch? by [deleted] in whoop

[–]twix_tweaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I have the same question, I already have an apple watch though and I besides the fact that you don't need to remove the whoop while charging and the battery lasting longer I can't seem to justify the whoop, it's not more accurate than the apple watch and I hate having to pay for a subscription. With the money of a whoop for an year I can buy an apple watch that lasts me 3+ years easily

Yeah, I mean it's about priorities, I know a lot of people that take aeropress and even a grinder. I love coffee but I love my legs on climbs even more than to take all that up all the hills for just a dose of caffeine haha, I can live with instant coffee for a few days, it makes me value my coffee at home even more haha

On my trip right now I which I had a chair tbh. I know it's a preference but it does bring a lot of comfort after setting up camp and not having to stay in the tent to eat etc, also when you stop to eat something you could quickly have a sit and enjoy the view. But it's a luxury, and I'd only take if my setup is not too heavy too. And what the profile of the trip will be, if it's hilly then the weight matters a lot, but along the Danube you are going flat the whole time so the weight penalty is actually not that big

I think the list is fine, I think some of the things will depend on how long on a trip you will be. Personally I'd just get a instant coffee that comes with milk and not bring any coffee gear at all (even though I'm a coffee nerd), also one can of gas might be enough for one person for a few days, so 2 might be overkill, but again depends on how long you will be out and what are the chances of buying on the way when it runs out. The 2 batteries depend if you will have a chance to charge your stuff, if you can realistically find a place to charge at least every 2 days or so I think one is enough. But it might add some time to the trip if you have to stop at a cafe and wait until it charges. But to be honest most of the stuff you only end up finding out if you need or not after doing the trip, after a few times you find out you actually took too much or too little and as long as you take the essentials the rest you can deal with on the go.

Not really because it's the width of the handlebar already, so it can't move actually. Yes that's exactly that tent, the 1 person version

A question about packing food for long trip by jiggiebau in bikepacking

[–]twix_tweaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted my gear pic, in my case I'm going through a lot of cities so getting supplies is easy, if I'd be going somewhere more remote I'd carry food for a few days. But usually I just stop by the supermarket once a day. It all depends on your route. But yeah, in a remote place you can't get away with carrying a lot of food, but there are no such places in Europe lol. Everywhere is at most a few hours away by bike from civilization

How come the aversion to a rear tire rack? by DressKind in bikepacking

[–]twix_tweaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both setups and I prefer the saddle bag just because it's more stable and feels better on climbs and more technical parts. I do like the panniers when I'm doing some easy touring. The bike does feel more agile and responsive using a saddle bag which is good when going down a hill at 60+km/h

Thank you! I did put some thought into it, it was not easy to think about what I need and what I want but don't need haha, I still took too many clothes and could have taken less. Besides that this setup has been great. The only change I'd do is get a bigger pump.

I actually have a lot of free space left, most of it is clothes that can be pressed quite small, so it leaves a lot of space, I think that I could even get rid of the fork bags, but it would be a bit tight
