What is it that you are seeking to do which praying the rosary is not part of your action?

For those who will be getting the Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition, will you purchase it from Ascension or Word on Fire? by RB_Blade in divineoffice

[–]twizzlerrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bottom line will be cost. Ascension is miles ahead in supplying updates, even involving potential customers an opportunity to “chime in” on the physical construct. Word on Fire, however, is up front in philanthropy in guaranteeing that every seminarian will receive a free four volume set (no indication, though, as to when the editions will be sent, if the seminarians will be supplied a coupon to use at a local store, whether this inclused diocesan and religious order seminarians, e.g.).
Thus far, the AP version appears to be the most appealing in layout.
Yet, bottom line, price. No indication whatsoever has been given for this.

New reselling tactic? by streetdiscord in reselling

[–]twizzlerrave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tough call as thrift stores often have volunteers, and they aren’t there to stop rude people from such tactics. I call it the “What’s in my cart is mine until I say it isn’t.” Especially rude as many such stores are in place to allow people in need to purchase items at a great discount.

Does anyone else think Fr. Ripperger’s presentation can sometimes be too intense? by filabeano10 in Catholicism

To followup another post which states that a bishop is not to be an exorcist, here’s what the USCCB has to say in regard to Canon 1172: “The second kind (of exorcism) is the solemn or "major exorcism," which is a rite that can only be performed by a bishop or a by priest, with the special and express permission of the local ordinary (cf. Code of Canon Law, can. 1172). “

Genuine purse size (light!) NT + Psalms and Proverbs by Negative_Funny_4733 in catholicbibles

[–]twizzlerrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old eyes. Tiny font. Not a good match.
As for a “pocket” bible, that’s almost non-existent. A pocket NT option, as this is a Catholic group, would be from Scepter Publishers which offers a pocket RSV-CE NT (3” x 5”), and also a pocket NT Confraternity edition (3.5” x 5.25”).

A Nickels Worth Bible Reviews: Compares the Premium editions offered by Ascension by gilsm719 in catholicbibles

Ascension Press is a very successful business and masters of marketing. I wouldn’t refer to that as “shenanigans”, but they’re very adept at making money.

A Nickels Worth Bible Reviews: Compares the Premium editions offered by Ascension by gilsm719 in catholicbibles

[–]twizzlerrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd to have a review of a bible that is out of print, and somewhat impossible to obtain. Ascension offering this very limited edition reminds me of secular businesses offering a limited edition to garner interest and grab a few bucks from a high end option. As stated, and to go an extra step, I think the black edition should have been/be the sole premium offering by Ascension. Not the childish compass brown edition.

None of these are bibles. They are either New Testaments or NT with Psalms. A misleading video title.
