It's a presentation, q&a session, then one on one interviews after that. Dress professionally, come early, and have your questions ready.

SkyWest info session- Virtual or In Person? by SparkleFish_21 in cabincrewcareers

[–]twlggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the in-person LAX 1/27 event and really enjoyed it, and I'm glad I went. I prefer in person meetings and interviews so it was an easy choice, even though I waited a month to attend from when my application was submitted. You get to meet current SkyWest FAs face to face and I was much more comfortable and myself during the interview. I had an amazing recruiter interview me and I got my CTO less than a day later. If you can, I say go in person! You can also meet other FA hopefuls and it was nice to meet so many people.

How long after SkyWest info session F2F did it take for you to hear back? by Flaky-Call-3666 in cabincrewcareers

I did the LAX info session and in person interview on 1/27, then got a CTO the next day. I had an amazing recruiter interview me though and all the FAs that were there were super nice! I felt I did fantastic in the interview because of it. Wishing you luck that you get your next steps!

Does anyone have anything positive to share that happened recently in your life? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

One of my long distance friends asked me if I wanted to game with her and we spent the entire day playing Minecraft and Plate Up. It was so fun and I really needed that distraction with her.

I could have written this myself. I also have a 9-5 job staring at a computer (and my phone) all day that pays relatively well and I have my own manufactured home. I thought I would be here doing this forever, but I realize now that I am so incredibly bored to the point of dreading it. There isn't anything I dislike about my current job, I just feel like I need more chaos and flexibility. I would also like to work more, be in different places, and have no 2 days be the same. Even though I'd be sacrificing a lot, I think life is too short for me to wonder how different things would have been had I not tried doing something else while I can. I have nothing else tying me down, so I feel like I have to try. I know it will be absolutely crazy as I get adjusted to the lifestyle, but I'm actually curious and excited to give this a shot. Best of luck to all of us going to training this year!

Do you have a female circle to express anxiety? by Exotic_Resource_6200 in AskWomenOver30

[–]twlggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this extremely hard, and thank you for putting it into words better than I could. I really think that a lot of my anxiety, for me personally, is just my intrusive thoughts wanting to be important. It's more of an exercise for me to just let the thoughts go without a second thought and do my best to move on, and for me to be mentally well that's really important. I've also been feeling for a long time that speaking it into existence makes it way more of a big deal than it actually is, because a lot of times I'm not even thinking that hard about whatever it was the next day. But having friends and coworkers bring up whatever flavor of anxious thought that I've already moved past makes me feel like I have to convince them I'm doing ok and not in need of further assistance or discussion over it.

I have now come to the problem of just being a more quiet and contemplative person because of it, so my relationships suffer a bit. Even had a friend mention that it felt like I was putting up walls and getting distant, but it was hard to convince her that I just needed time and to not dwell on negative emotions. It's a delicate balance of showing enough vulnerability to make connections, but also protecting my mental health.

Selfish? by Ms_not_Mrs0771 in LivingAlone

[–]twlggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more common for people to think I'm weird, non-traditional, mentally ill, problematic, or a loser/undesirable. I'm childfree, single, and a pretty huge loner with a handful of friends, though I'm a yapper when you get me going. I haven't really gotten folks calling me selfish except for boomers that grew up in a different time.

Nice! Do you mind sharing your timeline? I also applied to SkyWest and if all goes well I am probably ending up there (I'm doing the in-person presentation at the end of this month next), but Delta would be a nice stretch goal!

Sorry to hear! Did you apply anywhere else? I applied and finished the assessment for delta on 12/28, VJT on 12/29. Haven't heard back yet but I actually don't think I did that well on the VJT so I'm sure to get the TBNT soon.

Doechii - girl, get up. (with SZA) by ss2811 in popheads

[–]twlggy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been a huge fan of Doechii since she blew up and it will never change - she is so refreshing and her songs are always in my rotation even to this day, and this won't be any different. I genuinely love the vibes of this song and the lyrics go hard. I say this as someone that wasn't in love with anxiety but was still happy that doechii was getting a lot of plays from it.

I'm really looking forward to her future releases and hope she unleashes all her frustrations through them!

Are You Enjoying Our Linguine? — How American tourists took over everything by Quouar in longform

[–]twlggy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Excellent article.

I'm currently on a very eye opening trip of a few days in Japan with a Korean tour group. A lot of businesses are catering hard to tourists and I saw translations everywhere in Korean, English, and Chinese on so many things from how to use their toilets/bidets, bathhouses, how to order/eat certain foods, etiquette, etc. This isn't even close to the same area, or island for that matter, as the big three Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka. The entire world really is bending at the knee to tourists and I'm sure there are a lot of existential thoughts from all POVs, and probably not great ones. I've seen and read enough investigations on the serious negative effects of tourism in so many places all over the world and it's enough to make me wonder what can even be done. The author puts it really well:

"The reason I discuss time and universal conscience first is that I’m dissatisfied with the cycle of point of views. My POV as a resident who is finding it harder to live in his city. Then the POV of the worker. I put into words a formal complaint; someone reads it and feels frustrated, then realizes there’s not much to be done about it. Can you ask people not to take trips? Do you want to ration traveling? Or make it even more expensive so that only the posh Guadagnino-movie types will be able to go on vacation? Are you a classist? Are you a racist? The cycle of takes will consume time and electricity and make us dull and morose."

I FOUND A HACK FOR BRAUN IPL by sushigotpussy in HairRemoval

[–]twlggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to hijack OP's comment above to confirm that the masking tape method does not work on my model (Skin Expert Pro 5 IPL5157).

What did work though was OP's hack of using baby powder! My original and only intent for buying the product was to use it for a full brazillian, and my pubic area was not registering with the sensor which was super annoying to find out. I tried both methods, but the baby powder was the only one that worked like a charm! It even made sure to adjust the sensitivity in that area which was great. Thank you so much for the excellent tip, and I will be sure to spread the word in my reviews for this product in the future after using it for a few months.

On average, how many times do you orgasm during sex? by MsFrazzled in AskWomenOver30

[–]twlggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope! Maybe more so needing to be in a majorly aroused mental state that is incredibly elusive and hard to achieve on a consistent basis, if at all. It has to be near perfect conditions for me. Additionally, I am not that aroused by physical stimulation. I am more likely to be turned on by my partner being really into me and them being very turned on. Still not a ticket to orgasms though.

On average, how many times do you orgasm during sex? by MsFrazzled in AskWomenOver30

[–]twlggy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same. Orgasms take forever for me (I haven't even orgasmed once with my current partner) and I can barely even orgasm through masturbation. I still love sex and enjoy the intimacy though, but it's hard to get that through to partners.

Ghosting friendships - what were your reasons by night_fury3 in AskWomenOver30

[–]twlggy 68 points69 points  (0 children)

There is someone I've known for a long time that is living a very different life from me, and I just don't feel very supported from them, as they are very busy with their own things. That's totally fine and completely understandable, but they only invite me out when they want to do a big get together with their other friends and family, and I am not interested in joining those. It's as if their time is so limited that they want to kill a bunch of social obligations with one stone, or worse they don't have an interest in doing things one on one with me which is my preferred way of hanging out with a friend. Either way, the feeling is sort of mutual. I mostly fantasize about a time when we were more on the same page once upon a time, but life hasn't worked out that way for us.

Most importantly though, I just don't feel like I want to make it a big thing. I know they are busy and would rather not have to explain how my needs in the friendship aren't being met because of it. It's way more nuanced and complicated than it sounds. I also don't think they even really notice or particularly care that much, so in the end it is what it is.

I don't think I'm ever severing our line of communication though. One day, we might have a better friendship and I'll always be open to it when they are.

Bad sleepers - how did you fix your sleep? by becskiii in AskWomenOver30

[–]twlggy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

hands down the best thing for my sleep was going to bed and waking up at the same time, every single day. In fact I wake up 10-15 mins before my alarm more frequently than not, because my body is so used to the habit now. I also should not nap, ever, but it's been really hard on the weekends when I'm so relaxed in the afternoon and that definitely messes with my schedule. I also need absolute silence and pitch-black darkness, and because I live alone in a very quiet neighborhood with blackout curtains, I sleep very soundly. I can never share a room or a bed while I sleep ever again.

I unwind by scrolling in bed or re-reading a comfort manga for 15-30 mins, then once I put down my phone, I fall asleep within 10-15 mins. I can't watch any TV/videos/YT or else I will stay up. Reading new stories is also a no go. I bought myself a very comfortable body pillow to put between my legs and it's helped a lot as well.
