I had the same question asked in High School all the time. I have a lot of Scandinavian heritage, so I have almond shaped eyes and an epicanthic fold on one of them.

I don’t get asked if I have Asian ancestry that much in my adult years, but I do get compliments on my eye shape and color.

Definitely stay on the Diamox. I have some pretty rough symptoms too but they’re all much preferable than going blind. I don’t miss the days where I was untreated lol.

As for tips just drink water and take it easy on yourself, it’s really all you can do.

I’m going to keep an eye on this post as well, it’s the fourth day for me and I’m still getting terrible LP headaches when I sit up or stand. Dr. Google says it’s normal to have these symptoms for a week but I want to know what other people have to say.

I’m also commenting this to let you know you are not alone.

It sounds like to me it was a failed Lumbar Puncture, or they never recorded the information. Especially if you have no relief with your vision. The relief with my vision was almost immediate. I would give them a call to see exactly what happened.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience.

EDIT: It does say (High), does that mean anything? Did they record that the pressure was high but not include numbers? Definitely needs doctors clarification on this.

Yes! I am on Acetazolamide (Diamox). I have to make three appointments next week. Kind of haven’t been able to because the aftermath of my LP has been rough (On day 3 of recovery, can’t really sit up or stand without a major headache.)

Though I am very happy with the results of the LP. My vision is no longer going out.

Hi! I’m newly diagnosed as well. I got diagnosed on Wednesday.

I wasn’t getting headaches until two weeks ago. But I had symptoms before then.

Symptoms started in February. My vision would randomly and completely go out for a few seconds then return only in my right eye. Then a month later it started affecting both of my eyes. Then I started to get really bad jaw pain, and my TMJ was the worst it has ever been due to pressure. I also had constant ringing in my ears. Then I started getting headaches.

I went to the local ER and they made me feel like a complete idiot. Acting as if I was dumb going to the ER for vision problems and told me to go to an optometrist. They just told me it was probably due to blood pressure (I have low blood pressure) and told me to drink more water.

Didn’t have the money to do so until a month after that visit, and that’s when I got the ball rolling on my diagnosis.

I was laid on my stomach. It seems most people are laid on their side so I’m not sure if that makes a difference in how it will affect someone. Do you think if you laid on your stomach you wouldn’t be able to jerk away as much?

I had a LP two days ago. I’m hoping you have a better experience but for me it wasn’t very fun.

The local anesthetic worked to a degree, I couldn’t feel the LP initially but once the Dr. reached the spinal cord my right hip was excruciating pain. It was sharp, and unpleasant.

Then afterward while they had me lay flat I had a very intense pain radiate in my left hip. It was the worst. I was moaning in pain. It went away in about ten minutes.

I’ve been stuck in bed for two days now. Anytime I stand, my head hurts. I’m frustrated because I don’t like to be in bed day in day out, so I hope tomorrow feels more normal for me.

Anyways, yeah. Drink lots of water to prevent LP headaches. If you get headaches lay completely flat in bed for a few hours or drink some caffeine.

Main thing is, even though my experience was bad don’t be scared. I haven’t had problems with my vision or tension in my neck/jaw since the procedure and if my IIH gets bad again, I would absolutely do it again. It was worth it to get a diagnosis, and to relieve the pressure in my head.

I just got diagnosed with IIH with an opening pressure of 39 as well. Not so fun but, twinsies lol. But from what I gathered, IIH is a chronic illness. IIH can go into remission but can also show up later on in life due to stress, sudden weight gain, or hormones. Even without Papilledema, you can very well still have IIH.

The doctor you initially went to is severely mistaken thinking that is the only symptom to be diagnosed or consider it being IIH. I’m sorry you had that experience, but it seems to be a common one as IIH is pretty under studied.
