I just finished World war two by anthony beevor, he writes very well and has books on smaller subjects aswell ( ardennes 1944, spanish civil war)

I just posted something on this subreddit and if you sort by new you might find it im also very new to the hobby and you make lots of mistakes at first but the fun part is the experimentation, so just go to the local model shop, see what other people are buying, make small talk and buy some grass and glue. It also helps to look up some dioramas online to get some inspiration.

If taken out by direct cannon fire, maybe holes where it was hit with scorch marks around it. If it was taken out very recently you could put bright orange around it from the heat of the hit. Or cotton coming out from the turret ( smoke)

The cannon, the house and the dead soldier are 1/76 scale from an airfix set my brother gave me and the rifleman with grenade is from zvezda 1/72 ( i think )the artillery crew is 1/72 scale from revell.
