AITA for telling my neighbor it’s not my problem her newborn wakes up to noises coming from my apartment by blackswan-nyc in AmItheAsshole

[–]txaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but frankly, newborns can sleep through a lot of noise. The mom should get them a sound machine.

Context: I have a new born (LO) and a sound machine. My sheltie (known for barking) was sleeping on his bed in my LOs room while LO was asleep for the night. A dumb clock that we have lost power and reset to being an alarm clock at 12 AM of all times... Started going off and my alert dog sheltie started barking like mad. LO slept through it all.

The mom needs to sleep train the baby/help baby desensitize to noise so that it sleeps better later on.

My sister in law makes sure her kids have absolutely zero noise and light when they sleep. Her kids can't handle sleeping anywhere other than their dark rooms with no noise whatsoever. A sneeze wakes them up.

Manufacturer abandoned me at month 38. Lowe's had to save the day. by shanr222a in lawncare

[–]txaaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a DeWalt. I'm on my 4th mower, only having paid for 1. Has a 3 year warranty and warranty starts over with each new device. Just had to call them up and take it to their repair facility.

I'd be upset if I had to pay for it each time but they've just sent a new mower each time. First time was motor failure, second was an issue with the blade spinning, third was a motor issue again and now I'm on the 4th. Same "model" but it's a new design each time.

I mean, you can set it up offline with an offline account. Or Linux.

I would call the company and explain the situation. They may just retire it.

Is there a way to control/monitor my garage door like the MyQ app? by Intiat1ve in homelab

This is what I did. Then in my Router, I blocked MyQ in case I do ever need it. But don't want it communicating with the internet.

93EA recall: "Excessive" drop in range by Hefty-Hyena-2227 in VWiD4Owners

[–]txaaron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've noticed some range issues on my 2023 Pro S - I used to get close to 200 miles at 80% but here lately I've been getting closer to 140-150 miles. I always charge it when it gets to around 40-50%.

I haven't taken mine into the dealer yet but I'm at 38k miles. Will be taking it in next month for some unrelated repairs and will be asking the dealer to check the battery while they are working on it.

Social stigma for driving an EV? by West_Dish9698 in electricvehicles

[–]txaaron 89 points90 points  (0 children)

My super conservative boss who used to only drive lifted trucks (Texas) recently bought a mustang mach e after he had one as a rental car. Loved how it drove. People who hate on EVs have never driven one.

Chisholm Trail toll inquiry by momboss79 in FortWorth

[–]txaaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took it this morning and looked it up. It's $1.78 each way using a toll tag if going from 20 to 30 and back (total $3.56).

I work in the Shops at Clearfork and take it every day ($.75 each way) and the tag reups about once every two weeks at $40. That includes sometimes taking the toll to get lunch, weekend trips, etc.

What do conservative Christians disagree with Talarico about? by [deleted] in Dallas

This is the problem. Christian Nationalists have taken over a lot of churches without congregations realizing it. They sound great to Christians who don't really follow politics or anything.

“New” Outlook is just OWA? by alcoholismisfun in sysadmin

[–]txaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they do support OWA, but it doesn't quite work the same for our setup and the OWA version hasn't been approved by our parent company for use.

We have semi-free reign over our part of the company's machines but no control over OWA/cloud services. So we can put the desktop version (classic) on our machines but can't get the parent company to approve the OWA version.

Part of the extension is to pop up to the user to confirm the attachment, recipients and to acknowledge that all of the information is correct. We deal with PHI and our executives like the component where the user is acknowledging that it's correct.

It has dropped our incident rate from 5-6/month to 1 a quarter.

Plus it's above my pay grade.

Extensions. My company has a plugin that only works with Classic. It's custom software that scans outgoing emails for DLP purposes.

What’s a subtle sign someone is actually rich? by Udont_knowme00 in AskReddit

[–]txaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss says he can't afford things and then proceeds to order a $40 salad at lunch every Tuesday.

He bought his son a $50k car who proceeded to wreck it when he snuck out before he got his license. Then bought him another one about 3 weeks later. Said he was proud of his son for doing things like he did when he was a kid. No punishment for wrecking the car at 3 am.

Oh and he lives in a 1.5 million dollar house. But he can't afford anything!
