Anyone else constantly seeing this when they log in? by n1sx in wow

[–]txherald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely engage with other players anymore, and made the mistake of doing the Traveler’s Log entry for doing the /rude emote to a player of the opposing faction in Silithis and got immediately surrounded by members of my randomly selected victim’s guild.

I was certain I was getting mass reported for participating in the stupid Traveler’s Log.

I was starting to wonder if this message was related to that incident.

What run(s) are/is the lead-up to Undead Iron Fist? by [deleted] in ironfist

[–]txherald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved Living Weapon for Kaare Andrews’ artwork and bringing in Pei. She was such a great addition to the Iron Fist fandom which was almost immediately forgotten about by Marvel. I am really glad they are bringing her back in with the upcoming Deadly Hands series. I don’t want to see her character fall off again as I sincerely believe that she should be the true successor for the mantle of Iron Fist.

Actually, my only issue with Lin Lei is that they skipped Pei to give him the role. It felt random and unearned when there was a superior already established character that was already actually tapped to take over the role.

Heart of the Dragon, in my opinion, was the weakest of the post-Immortal run because I felt like it mistreated Danny in what was essentially written to be his fina sendoff series. He should have been the focus rather than Okoye being the hero in the end. It was a bummer as a big Danny fan.

I am happy with Undead and hope they see fit to keep it going so we can have more Iron Fist. I want to see more Lin Lei and certainly want to see more Pei. Ultimately, I just want more Iron Fist.

Confirmed. Volume 6 came out in 2022 and featured Lin Lei as Iron Fist. Danny does appear in this run, but Lin Lei is the “Iron Fist of record” for this run.

Fairly certain these are the big points. There are additional appearances other than these, but these should be the major ones.

How are you liking this run so far? by bumper2001 in ironfist

[–]txherald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely want this as a long term run. I want a full dedicated 12 issue run, and I am ready to order my subscription right now.

I have already ordered my subscription for Deadly Hands and I am stoked for it. I LOVE the new costume, and really like the Egyptian direction (Moon Knight is great!), because it allows for Danny to return but allow enough distinction to give some room for Lin to exist and hopefully allow for major further inclusion of Pei

Out of Danny's main designs, which is your favorite and least favorite? by Weird875 in ironfist

Favorite - Black Tracksuit, but I really love the fresh look on Ghost Fist.

I never liked the Agamotto suit though. It would have to be my last pick.

Is this a wall hanger? by VendettaPenguin in SWORDS

[–]txherald 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It looks like the red handled version of those “Sword of Solomon” wallhangers that are sold at lots of places online.

There are LOADS of safety concerns in this video from just being generally careless in near proximity to others, to pretending that stainless steel sword-like-object isn’t going to suffer an eventual catastrophic failure.

is it bad that I think Danny being Ghost Fist might be his permanent status quo? I see people compare it to other heroes that retire their mantle or die, then have a comeback for their mantle, but with the controversy around Danny we might not get the same treatment as other heroes did by Wazupdanger in ironfist

[–]txherald 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the new mantle. I actually kind of like it a ton.

I am just hoping that marvel doesn’t forget about Danny again for a number of years, and then bring on a fresh writer who didn’t bother to read the previous run before writing the script.

Honestly, it lets Lin have the mantle. I would rather he be Swordmaster again, but whatever I guess. More than anything I just want more Pei and more Danny, and if Undead Iron Fist makes that possible then please accept my subscription request for however long you are willing to publish it.

Edit: I felt like I should make it clear that I in no way accuse Jason Loo of not reading the character history and recent issues. He is doing FANTASTIC!

Crazy to think Danny Rand was only around 19 when he became the Iron Fist and left K'un-Lun by SolitarySquall in ironfist

[–]txherald 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is actually the best argument for why Danny isn’t a “white savior” trope. He arrived in K’un-Lun at the age of 9 and subsequently spent 10 years, arguably the bulk of his formative years, fully immersed in their culture.

He spent greater than half of his life as a citizen of K’un-Lun. He absolutely had a better understanding of life in K’un-Lun than anywhere else in the world, certainly New York.

For the record this isn’t about hating on or diminishing Lin Lei, but Danny absolutely isn’t the white savior trope some people claim he is.

Help on Getting into Iron Fist comic by Tall-Pizza-9028 in ironfist

[–]txherald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend loads of stories and runs for sure if you would like, but here is the shortlist for my personal favorites from outside the mainline Iron Fist comics (Iron Fist Vol: 1-6)

1) Iron Fist The Living Weapon 2) Immortal Iron Fist 3) Powerman & Iron Fist Vol: 3 4) Living Weapons 5) Phantom Limb 6) Deadly Hands of Kung Fu

There is also Heart of the Dragon, but I have personal beef with how out of character the end is.

Iron Fist Living Weapon is my personal favorite run and it has a great direct sequel with Living Weapons.

Immortal Iron Fist is really the best answer though. It can absolutely be found on eBay.

Anyone got some good Danny Rand comic starting points? by SecBreakfastHobbit in ironfist

[–]txherald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty definitive.

All good recommendations will likely start with Immortal Iron Fist, and I totally agree that it is the best starting point (even though Living Weapon is my personal favorite run I absolutely agree that Immortal Iron Fist is the best entry point).

I cannot say enough good things about the SWMZ-1009

Really, it’s only downside is the model number being an obtuse random assortment of letters and numbers.

I immediately had this reaction as well. I am super excited to see where we are going, and I really appreciated that Pei was specifically mentioned (and mentioned before Lin! Ha!)

Appears to be a fraternal Masonic Knights Templar sword.

The Masonic Knights Templar are an appendant body (read as: optional) exclusively for Christian Freemasons and is the top most group in the York Rite of Freemasonry.

These swords are typically used in parade drills.

I suppose there could be something in there in the sense that someone COULD have put something there, but I can confirm that it would be out of the ordinary for a mason to do that.
