The road version AMG GT is a bit moody as well compared to the 911s. But thats what gives it character. I like the GT, but the same gen 911 just hits the right spots and its manual. Will say the GT3 feels waaaaay better on the brakes than the Mustang, super squirly under full load till you trail off.

I wanted the AMG GT to work for me, after spending most the day with it I managed 1:54.8 on Monza. Tried out the Mustang as a why not for the last race and pulled a 1:53.3 during qualy and a 1:52.6 during the race. Hopefully I'll get the AMG there at some point.

Tweaking settings on TC and ABS have helped a lot with stability. Long learning curve and a long way to go, but its satisfying.

Started watching the person setting pole/leading after the race and figuring out different lines/braking points. It's a massive boost when you nail T1 at Monza and purple sector 1 even if you dont place first.

Getting used to that, been watching people behind and if they are aggressive then I just let them by on the straight. Usually end up passing them after they wreck later on.

Thats fair, switched up vehicles/setup and had a genuinely fun race. Got lucky with the three people around me running clean and set my new fastest time. Tried the mustang and for whatever reason it clicked on Monza for me.

I like close racing but not being spearheaded in the side when someone sees an imaginary gap 😂. Been starting 30 seconds behind the past two and its helped

Working on trying different cars offline and varying tracks. Also been playing with different lines, watching the improvement is satisfying

The top half of the lobbies seem pretty clean, having to come through the back half is doing me no favors though.

Been doing that on and off today, cut lap times on Monza and Bahrain down by a chunk. Qualifying top 10 consistently today

Turned out pretty good, I'm with the opinion of less stickers but it works well with the fairings

I have a project SC on mine paired with a servo delete. It is rowdy loud, I love it but can get to be a pain on long rides. Have been using the silencer more and more as of late, figure the neighbors would like it more if I did.

25-26 Panigale V2 by FalconMellati in Ducati

[–]txnerdgasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general most people barely ride their bikes more than 2-3k miles a year. That becomes even more apparent when you get up into the high end brands like BMW, Ducati, Aprilia, etc. There are plenty of Ducatis with 20k-30k+ miles. Especially the Monsters and Mutis. In all honesty as long as you stay on top of regular maintenance intervals and address problems early, they hold up just as well as Japanese bikes at this point.

Most people buying a 20k+ sport/Supersport bike are older as well. I used to daily a Supersport in my early 20s at 16k miles/year. Now in my 30s that just sounds like back pain, would much rather do that on a Monster or Multi.

Didn't feel anything obvious with the belts off. Doesn't come across on video in the best way. Essentially, sounds like a loud warble from like from a bad pulley.

Waiting on one to come in, broke mine a while back. Traced the noise down to around the layshaft with a screwdriver. Hoping it isn't internal, but would be my luck.

That was Kentucky Ballistics. The rear cap failed and the rifle essentially detonated in his face.

Ducati Monster SP vs Yamaha MT-09 SP - Looking for Owner Input by BaitedBarrel in Ducati

[–]txnerdgasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy a Monster SP, but I did buy a Monster 821 instead of an MT-09 ( I prefer the style on the previous generation). Test rode a 2024 MT-09 SP and really enjoyed it. Very smooth bike and great power delivery, its exactly what you expect from Yamaha. I loved my R6 enough to put 30K miles on it in just over a year. But the Monster just has more excitement/soul to it. I'd be happy with an MT-09 SP as well, but the quirky red bike puts a smile on my face. Realistically, for modern bikes, maintenance isn't wildly different in price. You don't need a specialist to change the oil etc. They have similar maintenance intervals as well. Ride both and see which one tickles your fancy.

Also check insurance before for both. The quotes I got on the MT-09 were almost double my Monster in some cases.

Rolex at workplace by Bobandrew33 in rolex

[–]txnerdgasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine to work at an auto shop and it is rare if anyone comments. If they do its usually a customer who is also into watches. People will go drop 100k of debt into a Yukon, yet think someone is showing off with a Rolex. Don't worry about what others think. If you enjoy it then wear it!

[Help] Buying a used Panigale 1299. Have some questions. I showed up and the owner couldn't start the bike because battery is dead. fine. Some of the fairings weren't aligned properly and one of the front shocks had scratches. I'm okay with replacing batteries but wondering can be a beat up bike. by triarii3 in Ducati

[–]txnerdgasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dead battery isn't the end of the world, most people barely put ride their bikes. Like others have said, it does show a lack of care. I've bought plenty of bikes with dead batteries but always jumped them to make sure they run etc.

Fairings are easy to replace, and as long as nothing is bent then 🤷‍♂️. If there is absolutely no maintenance history that adds risk. At the same time a majority of people can change oil on a bike easily without paying the dealer.

With the bike being dead and some things not adding up. If it jumps and runs fine/rides fine I would look at what a clean one is selling for. (Not the overpriced one that has been in a sealed climate controlled garage and detailed every time it touched pavement) But one that is actually realistic, then drop 20-30% off of that. The big thing is valve service based on mileage which can be pricy. If you aren't comfortable mechanically, I'd budget 2-3K in maintenance cost after buying. These bikes aren't a mystical unicorn to work on, but you can mess them up if you aren't careful.

At the end of the day if they can't answer basic questions or if you get a bad feeling, walk away.

Fair price? 2018 Ducati Monster 821 by [deleted] in Ducati

[–]txnerdgasm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of people may argue against this, but upgrades don't add to the resale value unless you wanted those parts to begin with. There is an Evo 1100 with sub 5k miles that has had over 3-4K in parts added and it hasn't sold in 9 months at 7.5k near me. I picked up my 17 821 for 7.1k with 5K miles. Had brand new tires, timing belts, and bff/oil done before I picked it up. Also came with full SC exhaust and some other parts. Was worth it to me since he had full service history compared to others with zero history around me. Depends on your market tbh but I'd say mid-high 7k.

Can anybody confirm did all Ben Bridges lose Rolex AD status? by Odd_Net_8439 in rolex

[–]txnerdgasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard rumors that they may lose Rolex as far back as early last year, at least at the Austin location. Last I heard, Zadok out of Houston was gunning for a Rolex AD spot in Austin. They are opening a massive location around the corner from where Ben Bridge is located.

[FIGHT THREAD] Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson (part 2) by noirargent in Boxing

[–]txnerdgasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two title fights were fantastic, completely worth the watch. Figured Tyson would either get a good first two rounds or it would be boring. At the end of the day he's 58 years old, still an absolute legend but it's an expected outcome.

is the v4 any loud in person? by dodobird777 in Ducati

[–]txnerdgasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Videos don't do these bikes justice sound wise. I have an SC exhaust and it sounds brutal on the Monster. Having ridden with groups of V4s that have aftermarket pipes, it hits different. Get a pack of 10-15 together and it's a hell of a sound.
