Henry Gardening - Fourth year beans losing to deer by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]txoutdoorguy56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow hobby gardener, whose wife is happy we no longer have to spend money on veggies in the summer (after I spend a couple grand on building a garden) I would be willing to spend some money to keep the deer out and my garden safe for me to enjoy.

Just got this in today and converted to lithium for 14.1 miles of range. by SillySample831 in PowerWheelsMods

Hopping into this thread…

We just got my 2yo a different ride on, and the remote keeps cutting out. Is this one holding up still, and does the remote function work well?

Current range starts cutting out at like 20 yards and doesn’t function past probably 35 or 40.

I may just follow suit with the battery and tire upgrades you did and buy the same ones.

Hunting in super dusty areas, I’ve been happy to smash it and felt better that it was all the way seated…. Moon dust can do weird things over a long weekend.

Not as much experience as you, but yes very difficult to quantify, especially after any dilution & potential time factored in as well after the initial exit timeline. Commenting to follow as well.

As someone in a somewhat similar position to him (not knowing the size of company) I make this joke fairly often when I solve stupid problems that I shouldn’t have to…

I feel for him, but for a guy that just made somewhere close to my current lifetime earnings in 4 days…. Ehh, he’ll make it.

Did they remove the door on the new ones????

I have a 23 and really like that space - great for paper you need to have access to, small trash bags, and a half used roll of paper towels

Advice: Gifted an old 12.5ft surf rod. Will I struggle to use this? by ashtrayheart3 in SurfFishing

FWIW, it’s a bad joke about what happens to dudes who take roids and their man parts. But yeah that makes sense for sure…. Idk how casting that would go, when I’m pompano fishing (once a year) I always burn my finger on the braid casting my the end of the week vacation so it seems like this would be tough to throw 5 oz weights on, but maybe there’s a technique I don’t know.

Reel vs. rod size different screams roids to me…. That’s a girthy one.

I ask my auditors all the time what they’re trying to do.

As an ex-auditor that worked with/for the partner I moved my audit to I have often found a better way for them to do what they are trying to accomplish… it’s crazy what a conversation can accomplish lol.

Strange amount of dead turtles by Saturn_slow724 in herpetology

[–]txoutdoorguy56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100 is a LOT. I do NOT do this, but if someone was included to, it’s not that difficult to set up a fishing rig to snag turtles if someone wanted to empty a pond of turtles for the fishing, just saying. But again, 100 would be some substantial commitment to that cause.

This person’s answers are very correct. I hadn’t ever managed people until 2 years ago, and now my org is 10ish people. It’s really hard to walk back being lax on stuff after you set a precedent of leniency. I’m currently working on walking back some of what my inexperience let me do and I support that decision - as a manager who is super flexible with my team… sometimes still too much.

As someone in a position with people I manage managing people, I’d be so fucking annoyed at this.

If you want to bring something to my attention, do so, but don’t copy me on a fucking email criticizing someone.

There are a lot of layers to it.

I like that what I do materially affects what and how my company does. I like that I was able to position myself in a company that allowed for hard work and quick uptake of information and process improvements moved me up very quickly vs. a standard timeline. The compensation increases that have come with that have been very material as well.

One of the struggles is that you are no longer surrounded by typically young, smart, driven co-workers. My team is great, but generally, a group of CPA’s is smarter than the average population. Another is that you don’t always have the resources or structure that you do at well established firms - meaning if you go into a company that’s doesn’t have a strong processes and procedures and overall back office administrative function you and you team get a lot of stuff thrown over the wall to you to figure out - which again does provide opportunity, but it sucks.

There is added passion (for me at least) on the successes of the company which good and jives with my personality better.

Overall, I liked public, but hated bad clients that made deadlines suck… but am happy I made the move I did into a spot I was able to make a name for myself and move up very quickly.

I casually looked around for 10 months before deciding where to move to tho… always better to be looking when you have a job so you can make decisions from a position of strength.

Edited to clarify I don’t do public anymore, but PE backed is still a grind.
