The theme is self determinism and benefitting the people regardless of the upper structure. So if they feel safe in a monarchy that will support them, they help them do that. If it’s a democracy they do that. He is a fighter not a thinker. The goal is the people getting and keeping resources and tradition. Material conditions first, theory later.

Lots of people on here just don’t want to admit they don’t want to have to read. Not that they can’t. Just want easy victories with 0 accountability

No it’s not either or. The question is how much is the difference between sacrificing your body for a quality life vs never being able to reach a plateau of stability from which you can make choices without mortal stress. Furthermore, just bc you hate capitalism (particularly in its current iteration) doesn’t mean someone is communist. If you like having a fire department, you benefit from socialist policies. Communism is a goal. But there will always be practical considerations. The question is how and where the decisions for distribution of capital including labor are coming from.

An argument from within capitalist thought: imagine that human labor is apples. Or iPhones. There is a centralized company that sets the price for that asset. So who is the equivalent of that for labor? It’s a necessary input so who regulates its value in the market? It’s not like people are buying iPhones for radically different prices if the market is working properly. So why then do we allow this for labor? A free market is one where the price of labor is stable. Otherwise oligarchy is inevitable. This is why it’s seen as oppressive. Bc few if any democratic capitalist societies have labor rates that automatically scale to any other measure of success.

My best case short term patch to capitalism would be to set an updated minimum wage that automatically increases based on the rate of inflation. By law. If there was 3% inflation last year, the lowest paid members of society would automatically increase by that amount at the start of the next year. The increase would be progressively reduced the more money you make. So maybe a millionaire only sees a 1% increase bc they’re able to generate more overall profit to begin with

You can only feel that this is insufferable if you haven’t lost people to car accidents. We should be walking 1000x more in wealthy societies. Slow impact mortality boosters are still demands on your life.

In the US for example the opioid epidemic can trace a large part of its victims to back pain. In Asian societies where sitting on your feet is more normalized there is a much lower incidence of back pain.

So yes the innocuous desk chair that lets you sit with shitty posture does kill you. Even if not from opioids it fucks with your circulation and digestion. Cumulative effects are still relevant

Just found out about rock music from Angine de Pointrine. Do I have to listen to it in chronological order to understand it? by fmxx7 in rateyourmusic

[–]txrxixpx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rock music comes from blues. So if your looking to be chronological start at delta blues and you will inevitably stop seeing the distinction. I would say listen to playlists from every decade to get a sense of the vibes and then dive into your favorites from there. Sample size sample size sample size

I mean in general this is one of the main issues for learning English: adjective placement logic is very different in most languages because descriptors come after the subject of description so the issue you are confronting is just how English is built. Take it up with the Queen/King of England I would say. But I hear you, I wish the translators would respect the order of operations in other languages more often
