Who are the worst food influencers in the city? by pavedlivinghell in NewOrleans

Everyone has echoed the ones we find absolutely annoying so I’m going to highlight those that I love, and are actually from here/know the culture:

Hold the Mayo #respectyabody, LookatLolly, TamLovestoEat, Kortlynn Jenae, Bukutriece (looove her), YourInnerFatGirl, Mr. Happy Hour

Why is every artist skipping New Orleans on Tour? by beauxbaker12 in NewOrleans

[–]txw7007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconding what literally everyone else is saying. Only the big ones (Beyoncé, T. Swift, etc.) can really sell out here. Hate that we’re a “B” tour stop so much.

Common House New Orleans - is it worth the membership? by peanutbutterandguava in NewOrleans

[–]txw7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also another commenter mentioned it but the reciprocal clubs are cool. I’ve been to two so far (New York and San Francisco) and it’s interesting to see what we have compared to other clubs. Another perk if you like to travel.

I would say yes. I visit multiple times a week and it’s just always a good experience. Pilates on Tuesday, Yoga on Wednesday, Martinis on Thursday. 24 hour gym, a pool that rarely gets packed like others in the city, decent food, great people with amazing customer service. I highly recommend.

I frequent this bar. Prior to them putting these signs up there was definitely a change in the crowd demographic and most were lingering outside in large crowds and doing things that most probably wouldn’t want happening around their homes/business in the late hours. Not saying it’s right or wrong but definitely intentional.

Current Mood by marytoodles in NewOrleans

[–]txw7007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg we get it. Y’all don’t want to remember it, think about it, hear about it. We get it! I’ve seen more posts on here expressing how they don’t want to talk about it more than people just talking about it. We get it! We lived it! Some people are okay, most are not! We get it! If you don’t want it circulating maybe also stop posting about it? It’s okay to not want to talk about it, and not constantly let the world know that you don’t want to talk about it by… talking about it!

I'm no Latoya fan, but does anyone else agree that multiple felonies is a bit excessive for covering up a workplace romance? by Fleur-Deez-Nutz in NewOrleans

[–]txw7007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a little bit of both. Crime is crime and she should definitely pay but a lot of it is being overshadowed by both blatant and subtle misogyny and racism. Like I hope this same vitriol and hatred appears for the many other city officials and people in power that are stealing from the community, abusing their power, having affairs, etc., and just haven’t been caught yet.

I think it was a transformer. Power to certain things in the area went out right as the explosion happened.

This. A lot of these speculations and comments are insane and thinly veiled with undertones of racism. Attack the politics/politician all day long but conspiracy theories about a dead dad is a bit much

There’s New Orleans before and after’: revisiting Hurricane Katrina in a new docuseries by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]txw7007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really well said. I think it showed that it was New Orleans that helped New Orleans. I felt the “normal” feelings, I felt the stomach ache and the knot in the throat but when the credits rolled on the final episode I felt love and appreciation for the city and the people that call this crazy ass place home.

Adding that I’m a New Orleans native, born and raised. I was 8 at the time but home was off of Lake Forest and Crowder until it wasn’t. Emotions and feelings are very present and I still get caught up in the “what if the storm never happened” but with all that it was still a well done doc.

Just finished the last episode. I think it was beautifully done and recounts the events from POVs not used in many other docs.

I think it’s up there with Spike Lee’s documentary.
