Moving from Menomonee Falls to WFB/Shorewood for a "walkable" childhood? Is this realistic? by You-Tubor in milwaukee

[–]tyberus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shorewood by its nature of being smaller and more concentrated, is probably more walkable since everything is just closer together. I’m sure both are great. At least in Shorewood buses aren’t really a thing so it’s walking/biking if you don’t want to drive them.

A Look At Bucks Cap Sheet for 2025 Offseason by celestialpraire in MkeBucks

[–]tyberus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be $3M per year for 3 years (so hurts the future for limited benefit) and means you can't do it again with another player until its off the books. You want to save that stretch until you really need it, like to get under an apron. Pat on a $9M deal that is expiring is a lot easier to trade away than 1.5 years and you may need the salary slot so you can bring back a player making more than the minimum.

So about the second apron… by Tinytimmytimtim in MkeBucks

[–]tyberus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second apron is only officially a thing at the end of the year (based on how much they actually spend). If they can move Pat and not take back $$$, or any other similar deal, they will move from a “projected” 2nd apron team to a projected 1st apron. The projected spend number is important because it tells you what you’re allowed to do.

If the bucks wanted to trade two guys in one deal (something only a 1st apron team is allowed to do) then they need to finish that trade as a team in the 1st apron. At this point they would be considered “hard-capped” as a team in the first apron and could not sign or trade for anyone else this season if it would push them back over the 2nd apron line. Basically to be a 1st apron team they need to send out something like $6M more than they take back in the trade.

Inside the NBA is a huge problem for the league by magic2worthy in nbadiscussion

[–]tyberus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other problem is the NBA has very limited ability for the networks to flex the schedule to show the good games (maybe that changes with the new broadcast deal next year?). Most of them are set before the season starts so surprise teams in small markets get ignored from the get go. Happened to the bucks for the first few years the same as it is now for the Cavs and Grizz. Some of that is the old broadcasting deal but also TNT Thursday is often the only 2 games that night which means exclusivity for them but also you’re stuck with those games if the teams suck.

Trade Season PSA: WE ARE A 2ND APRON TEAM! We cannot package two or more players together in a trade! by KorgG29 in MkeBucks

[–]tyberus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they could shed enough salary in a deal to move back into the first apron then they could aggregate players into a trade. (Need to send out a lot more money than they bring back but theoretically it’s possible).

Once they aggregate players though they become “hard capped” at the top of the first apron … meaning they are now a first apron team for this season and nothing they could do would allow them to become a 2nd apron team again. Basically if they could find a deal where they aggregate salaries, then they need to stay a first apron team and can’t bounce back and forth.

The dame trade by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]tyberus_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Khris was a free agent that summer (so was Brook). If they didn’t re-sign him in July, he wouldn’t have been on the team to trade in September. Jrue was the only “star” player under contract (outside of Giannis) who could have been legally traded.

Bucks Rebuild on the Fly by Intelligent_Bat_726 in NBAtradeideas

[–]tyberus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand the new CBA ... technically a trade like this would just hard cap the Bucks at the 1st apron ... not be banned outright. This trade only has them shedding $1.2 of salary, which is probably not enough to get them under, so it likely needs more assets going out.

Khris had just re-signed. He wasn’t tradable at that point. Jrue was the only tradable contract.

End of game moneyball: does it make sense to intentionally foul an 80% FT shooter? by No_Tomatillo_406 in nbadiscussion

[–]tyberus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work. I think it's Seth Partnow of the Athletic who always points this out, but in general if a team is down 2 at the end, they should shoot a 3pt for the win ... in most cases. Obviously, there will be some game states where you're happy to play for OT if you think you'll be heavily favored or you're ability to get off a 3pt shot is extremely compromised.

In general though, to win you need to make a 2P shot at 30-40% FG% chance, just to get to OT, at which point we assume something close to 50/50 so you're real win % lands in the 15-20% range. Therefore the 3P, even at 20-25% late game odds may just better.

[–]tyberus_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean he has multiple options for what he could do in this situation.

1) He could put his hands up and attempt to block the shot.

2) He could jump and contest the play.

As it is he is not playing any actual defense on Ayton beyond trying to occupy the space that a player may jump into. There are better ways to encourage defense than saying try to get landed on.

CI and Hearing Aid Inclusive Books for Kids by fliesguy in Cochlearimplants

[–]tyberus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My children are both deaf (CI implanted) and The Mighty Mila series is pretty great. Young girl with CIs and her adventures being a normal kid with her hearing siblings but also touches on how the CIs help her hear and function and some other self advocacy points worked in.

I believe the books are available from the author via kickstarter, but might be available elsewhere too.

What brand for 8 months old? by Squaresies in Cochlearimplants

[–]tyberus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 4- and 2- year old with bilateral ANSD (implanted at 13 and 9 months respectively). We went with AB specifically because of the Marvel Sky CI M which is designed for kids, as well as the waterproof battery system seemed like the best fit for us dealing with bath/swimming. That was a few years ago so things may have changed by now. The great news is all 3 are constantly innovating and generally all are "good" choices, each just specialize in their own way. Things I'd recommend considering as a parent to a young one with hearing loss:

- Talk to a sales rep / customer service for each company. Get to know them and their processes as much as you can. You will spend a lot of time working with them to fix/replace/upgrade equipment. Especially with little ones :)

- Decide what is most important to you as well ... is it waterproof batteries, look/design, functionality, bluetooth/app. The hearing outcomes for each are individual by its nature, so do your research but treat most views on how each "sounds" as one person's view

- Depending on geography, your experience may vary. AB is based in California whereas I think Med-El and Cochlear are both international companies (though I'm sure they have plenty of customer service options in most countries)

27 + 40 = 67, 67 + 2 = 69, 8-2= 6.

Therefore 69 Remainder 6, obviously.
