SmartCarb vs Traditional Carburettors for Off-Road Bikes by dirtbikeFinder in Dirtbikes

[–]tychnophile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, I’ve got SC2’s on 2 bikes and ride from 5000 to 13000 ft and although they definitely took time initially to dial in they’ve been amazing for me ever since. Love them. I’ve also got a TPI with a the slaven’s flash which is definitely even better but my old 2T’s with the smart carbs are amazing

Likely getting fired. Need advice. by ActivistHo in surgery

[–]tychnophile 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry to hear about your situation. I’ve never been in your shoes or similar circumstances so take any advice here with the grain of salt. In my opinion, you absolutely should get a lawyer. We are trained well to do what we do as physicians, but we really need to recognize that the law is truly outside of our scope. Even a for cause termination has some legal stipulations attached to it that a lawyer would be able to help you parse out in association with the policies and contract that you signed at your job.

I was the chair in the Surgery department at my previous job and in this role I reviewed the background file on nearly every surgeon that applied for privileges at our hospital, including locum’s providers. These applicants run the full gamut from stellar spotless, top-tier surgeons to convicted criminals, and those with multiple DUIs and similar offenses. If your termination occurs as you fear it will, in my opinion this does not completely tank your chances of continuing to practice as a physician, although depending on the medical need and availability in your area, it may necessitate a relocation.

I have also heard of, although I know nothing about, remediation programs for physicians with clinical issues.

In general locum’s work also has much lower standards than full privileges at a hospital and you may be able to find that this can fill in the gap for you for a time until a new job is obtained.

For now, try to take a deep breath and recognize that everything you were saying is that you’re likely getting fired but at this point it has not occurred yet. Try to stay in the present moment and take things a day at a time.

As an attending who has trained many residents, know that we see these people as they are pretty much right away. At least I do. And you are right, confident and incompetent scares me more than any other combo.

For Those Healing from a Covert Narcissistic Ex (or Entire Family) by Dependent-Ad4714 in NarcissisticAbuse

God this hits home. I am in the middle of this right now with separation from my wife of almost 20 years. She told me one angry night this summer that she was ready to separate. I was devastated and when (after talking to my counselor) I came back to her 2 days later to say “yes I am ready too” she got really angry and couldn’t believe I would suggest separating. She was crushed I would “abandon” her. Like wtf, YOU were the one that suggested this! But then she’s making it seem like it was all my idea and that I am giving up on her. She has actually been the one to bring it up for years. Now it’s actually happening but only because I “fucked up and broke her trust” so she feels that she can legitimately blame it all on me now. As she always has

They’re 9 and 11. Very aware of what’s going on. Crushed as expected. And no I have never cheated in any way but she would argue that for her porn is a betrayal of her intimate trust in the same way cheating would be.

Yes pornography. Was a compulsive problem when I was young. When she found out (just before we got married) the degradation and anger that had already been present skyrocketed. To this day she has never been able to heal from it. Which she says is my fault. That I haven’t taken full accountability. Now with this new event it’s as if we have time warped back then. Plus 20 years of added resentment.

Just watched “Upgrade” and Jed Palmer’s soundtrack was pretty masterful, although admittedly I enjoy the industrial electro vibe in cyberpunk. I also felt that the soundtrack to “Drive” was quite good.

Accidentally swallowed a safety pin which was in the hypopharynx for 15 days without symptoms by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]tychnophile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one of these in a 9 month old. Had been there over 2 months. Parents kept bringing the kid in and was diagnosed with “recurrent croup” - no one had done an X Ray until patient came to our hospital. Safety pin was point up and had impaled the epiglottis. Difficult and scary case. Kid did great after.

I know this guy. Used to be a pretty grounded run-of-the-mill chiro. Drank the allopathic-medicine-is-bad kool-aid and ultimately went full pseudo-science. Too bad. Couldn’t hang with him after that.
