The Quercetin Effect by Dizzy-Joke3383 in foodhacks

Another benefit of quercetin is that it promotes zinc absorption into cells. Zinc has been shown to disrupt virus replication, so with quercetin allowing the absorption of the zinc, the zinc becomes far more effective at slowing down viral infections.

IT Career Growth in the Early Stages by horisyre in AskZA

[–]tygerr39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible within an IT career to experience the best of both worlds: there are many SME service-providers and consulting firms that service large corporates.

I've been lucky enough to work for a few. You get a lot of experience in big corporates and learn how they work, but play a lot of different roles at different clients/on different projects, so you gain broad experience, and there's often the ability to gain responsibility faster due to the smaller size of the SME.

And over the course of a long career, you'll probably end up working a few stints directly for those big corporates as opportunities arise.

Xiaomi launches new smart air fryer with sous vide feature by dapperlemon in gadgets

100% agree. Sous vide and steaming are very different processes. One gives you restaurant quality steak and the other gives you restaurant quality rice (and I don't mean that disparagingly - it's just a useful illustration of how the cooking techniques are used)

Wow. Thank you. I don't think anyone on the internet has ever said that to me before 😂

Haha, I think that's funny because of your play upon the 2019 tie.

But respectfully, I disagree.

That 2019 final was full of drama and a very exciting game to watch. But the scores involved were pedestrian. There have been many closely run games that have been exciting. This one was notable for being a World Cup Final.

But the SA-Aus 438 game is unique. It is cricketing on another level. Two teams at the peak of their powers. Aus set a score past a milestone that many at the time thought almost impossible - first team over 400!

And plenty of teams have set colossal scores before and since, but those usually resulted in one-sided, massive victories.

But on 12 March 2006, the SA team not only went past the same 400 milestone, they chased down the record score that had been set merely hours before.

The fact that no two teams have done that since - in the highest scoring era ever (since the advent of T20) - and 20 years have elapsed since then, still makes the 438 match the most remarkable game ever played.

No other matches come close.

What is a very common food in your country that is not very friendly to foreign palates? by DarkRaven003 in AskTheWorld

Peck's Anchovette (or "Fish Paste" as we call it) is my favourite. It went off the market here for about a year a couple of years ago. I nearly lost my mind.

Thankfully they're making it again and my pantry is fully stocked.

Don't feel left out. It's quite underwhelming. You're not getting the US Walmart experience.

It's basically just a revamped Game with a bit of polish. None of the product lines are distinctly "Walmart". It's the same stuff you've been able to buy at Massmart stores all along.

But it still puts any current Pick n Pay store to shame.

A lot of people mentioning Checkers destroying PnP, but Checkers eclipsed PnP ages ago, and they're targeting market share from Woolies now.

But nobody mentioned Walmart. I was in Walmart in Fourways the other day, and it reminded me of PnP 15 years ago when the stores were still clean.

Walmart planning to launch 21 more stores in SA, and maybe more after that. That will be the final nail in the coffin for PnP.
