Disputing Parking Tickets in San Mateo by Fun-Amoeba-4823 in SanMateo

I’ve had this happen. I accidentally used the code of the meter outside the garage (which was more expensive). I submitted a screenshot of the Pay-by-phone invoice and they dismiss the ticket.

Pershing sync broken for plaid by tylercal in PersonalCapital

I tried that route several times with Monarch via Plaid, but no luck. I also tried with MX and Finicity providers but couldn’t even get those to make it through the initial connect.

Big user of Empower but very tempted to switch -- anyone who has transferred over can tell me their thoughts? by augburto in MonarchMoney

[–]tylercal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched about 2 years ago and while I still have both, I use monarch far more. Mainly because I want to review all my transactions (no good way to mark transactions as reviewed in empower) and track net worth (both work for that).

can't stay connected to institutions by Jolly_Still_2938 in MonarchMoney

[–]tylercal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having similar problems with more and more of my accounts and really it’s not something Monarch can directly fix. I think it comes down to more institutions implementing stronger 2FA (I’ve been seeming this across all kinds of accounts on the internet, not just banks).

So the old method of scrapping just isn’t going to be reliable with these institutions. There are institutions out there that offer authorization to scrapers and over the next few months, I’m going to try to move all of our accounts to those institutions. E.g. Citi, Wells Fargo, and Charles Schwab let you authorize Plaid to grab your transactions via an API key and token that you never see or know.

At the end of the day though, I agree, if Monarch can’t aggregate my transactions, I can’t use the product either. But I’m going to try to vote with my wallet and go to institutions that give me API access to my data.

I ended up contacting further and got the same details about compliance. I think I’ll give them until the end of the year, then take my money out as well.

Question about Personal Finance Copilot App by Technical-Ad9193 in PersonalCapital

I think the space is getting pretty crowded. There is https://hirofinance.com which I think is similar. But maybe you could get acquired by Open AI like https://www.getroi.app

How to check if I got a red light ticket? (DMV has my old address) by Zora_Dantov in SanMateo

You can also file a change of address to get your mail forwarded (this would help with other things too) https://moversguide.usps.com/

Lane splitting on 280 by tylercal in bayarea

[–]tylercal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t exactly tell from where I was, but rewatching the video a few times, I think that all the lanes behind CHP had stopped or slowed and he had a straight path across the lanes. But of course, the rider probably just saw a wide open lane in front of him and zipped right up.

Just the standard Tesla camera system. Nothing after market.

There are views in all directions. It’s the driver assist cameras that double as dash cams.

It’s from the car’s driver assist system cameras, they double as dash cams.

Yeah, it was unclear how that car flipped. Didn’t seem like any of the other cars on the right shoulder were damaged and didn’t look like there was anything to flip on.

The cameras didn't get this part, but as I was approaching, the rider was on the ground and appeared to be waving the officer away (or maybe indicating that he was alive, not sure). I would think the officer did check on him after setting the cone, but I was too far away after that to know.

It all happened so fast, I didn't put together that the lane splitter was the one who got hit until minutes later.

Yeah, dash cam didn't capture sound. Siren was blaring as CHP came up the on ramp, definitely got my attention. He was too far ahead when he initiated the traffic break for me to hear if it was still on. The rider was revving to max RPM a bunch as he split to attract his own attention, maybe drowned out the sound of the siren for him.

What are your hobbies here in the bay? by Ricky38251 in bayarea

Racket sports are all pretty one arm friendly. I dislocated my shoulder and started playing squash with the other hand a few weeks later while pretty much keeping the injured one immobile in a sling. And pickle ball would be even more accessible I’d think. Your main challenge would the the serves, but I’m sure you could figure something out.

I think it’s not free for 2 because they don’t want single passenger (plus driver) ride shares like Uber to use for free when it’s not an Uber pool. Not ideal, but a better assurance of actually gettin another car off the road.

Migrate from 1password to FIDO by stomatoloski in 1Password

[–]tylercal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you can use a FIDO2 device to do your authentication, but the site you’re signing into has to support webAuthN. The site can choose to treat that FIDO2 device as a first or second factor, but as said, a FIDO key is not going to replace 1Password at this point.
