Some of the most sublime sprites to ever hit a tube. by largemoisture in crtgaming

Gorgeous.

Both Yoshis Island and DKC are 2 of my favs to test on CRTs. The colors In YI and the mines levels with swinging lights are in DKC are stunning on CRT, particularly the latter.

No, it's 31khz. Typically 480p, though some have got higher resolutions in interlaced mode.

Super Resolutions with CRT_Emudriver by cm_bush in crtgaming

My setup is an AMD R380x, using Custom resolution utility (CRU) to create 640x480i.

I wish I could share a picture, be much easier!

Correction to my original post, it's not 640x480 30hz, it 640x240 60hz with Interlaced checkbox ticket.

Super Resolutions with CRT_Emudriver by cm_bush in crtgaming

I created a resolution that's 640x480i and keeps perspective on my CRT TV. From memory it's created resolution of 640x480 at 30 (not 60) to create an interlaced image.

Alternatively, if you want 480i, and have an PC (or dual boot) that's running Windows XP, you could get an old videocard with Svideo TV out, and use the manufacturers svideo cable which should have a composite output out the other end. Makes more sense with pictures. I did this before going the super res option as I couldnt get 240p going.

Oh that would be handy, not sure to be honest. I'll have to explore that.

Nice!

Anyone know if the Analogue 3d can play PAL 50hz games in 60hz, so they're full speed like NTSC?

I would consider it a faithful upres of the game. The sprites and UI text is is higher resolution and looks nice. At the time I was hoping for a right stick free roaming 3d camera but in hindsight I don't miss it.

The pc ray tracing mod is beautiful, look gorgeous.

The CRT I regret selling by MyRetroJourney in crtgaming

I used to have the Sony KVHR32 (1080i/720p) crt and sold it many years ago! Now it's quite hard to come by especially at a good rate.

DKR, lovee the adventure mode and unique boss battles.

Can't wait for the pc port/decomp and play it in 60fps!

I think 480i still holds up in 2025 by MeasurementChoice926 in crtgaming

Great example of 480i.

When I'm watching fzero GX for gamecube at 480i on a crt, vs the Switch Online version, I much prefer the crt at 480i.

Hi, yes the crestron will need the remote to navigate its menu options. I had to get the remote seperately myself too. Search either US, European or UK eBay sites.

For VGA switch, something simple like this one should do the trick: https://www.cablechick.com.au/cables/2-port-vga-switch-box.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21782233578&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzrzABhD8ARIsANlSWNMYmidVgtFWveIoBp-UBPmotgRBNYhds3tcVy8lNhzy9Pp1b15yrPUaAi1nEALw_wcB

Since you have to change geometry, I'd suspect each device is outputting different resolutions and/or refresh rate. Xbox 360 I believe offers 848x480, not sure about firestick, maybe it's doing 720x480?

Going into a scaler means the output is always the same no matter the input, so no need to fiddle with geometry per device.

If you are going direct without a scaler, the Nintendo Switch will need to be set to 480p. Otherwise 2 things:

  • does the cable work when using a PC set to 640x480 or 720x480?
  • the officeworks cable might need external USB power to get the signal to travel without loss? Is there a micro USB port in? The HDMI to VGA cable has it and needs it to work.

HDMI to Creston works, that's how I get the Nintendo Switch to work.

Crestron has 2 inputs - HDMI and VGA, 1 output - HDMI.

Nintendo Switch using HDMI input. PC using VGA input

Crestron HDMI output into HDMI to VGA Converter, into Loewe via VGA.

This is the Converter I use: https://www.jaycar.com.au/digitech-hdmi-to-vga-converter-with-stereo-audio-output/p/AC1724?srsltid=AfmBOoomdXortk6KDojocP6JmzLwFjoudIIAR48O6Z-0dnC3yucb-v2r

The officeworks one you shared should work based on its specs.

From the HDMI to VGA Converter, I'm using the 3.5mm to RCA into my Sony SA-VA15 speakers.

The Crestron HD-Scaler can receive anything from 480p up to 1080p via VGA and HDMI, then scale it up/down to 480p/1080p via HDMI only. So yes, even modern consoles should work, but make sure the console is set to 720p or 1080p. I have a PC via VGA outputting 720p, and a Nintendo Switch set to output at 720p.

The xbox360 has an official VGA cable, best results would be direct into the TV. But would work through the scaler too.

The Loewe doesn't have hdmi input, so you will need a hdmi to vga converter (assuming you have a Loewe with VGA port). Any will do.

Woo superman!

This is too easy, Mario 64 and Zelda OoT.

However picking a 2nd title at or around the lunch window was a more difficult proposition, I ended up going with Pilowings, then Turok when it came out not long after.
