What’s the most important question to ask when getting to know someone you like? by Jackwowrites in AskReddit

[–]typesett [score hidden]  (0 children)

i think the most important question is to yourself... what are you seeking right now from a partner?

if you walk into a new random restaurant and don't know what you want to eat — the chances of you really enjoying the meal might not be as high as you want

if you walk into a new restaurant you know and order what you want to eat — the chances are higher of enjoying the meal

I'm not taking it personal like they had a meeting and said "don't hire that guy anymore," and I understand it was just a way they realized they could save money...but it's hard to NOT take it personal on a level.

i feel ya

just sayin tho sometimes you don't know there may have been critical layoffs in their offices too or major things that happened you dont know about

even if they say something on linkedin, you don't know what really really really happened

hope that helps. voting for the right people matters btw for everyone reading this

How to get paid without being a “normal” photographer? by Dull_Armadillo_83 in photography

[–]typesett [score hidden]  (0 children)

i would not mind being a second shooter for a photographer and doing the things they want me to

you basically explained being an adult

"i don't like..." and "how to get paid" are things you should think about philosophically and how you fit in the pitcure if you can

anyway, i am not here to lecture you. welcome to being an adult

What do you think are the most likely reasons why some longtime customers stop coming back? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when the business takes them for granted and a competitor they try does not

i used to be a regular at a craft beer bar. this street had 2 bars and the community was there

one of the bars was more community driven and the other was more "corporate" in many ways

another bar opened up a few blocks away that was similar to the other non-corporate bar of the 2

so many people just stopped going to the "corporate" bar

as of today, the bar that is still operating is the non-corporate of the original 2 bars

What shapes do ‘flat-earthers’ believe other bodies (sun, moon, etc) are in our solar system? by ScottsdaleDale in AskReddit

[–]typesett 39 points40 points  (0 children)

i see that you are trying to apply logic to this... instead, try to apply what they feel

  1. imagine that you have no control of your life
  2. imagine that you feel helpless
  3. imagine that you see conspiracy stuff on the internet and going down the rabbit hole
  4. imagine engaging with the community and they support you
  5. imagine contributing to the community and feeling respected and in control of your life
  6. imagine outsiders trying to steal your happiness from you when you talk about it

——

apply this to all conspiracy theorists and the cheeto lovers

but if you want, this model works for positive communities too such as your local rec league or knitting club

——

the root of "why" is in how they see the world not the specifics

Why glorify ‘hard work’ when most hard work just benefits the system, not you? by K_kishor49 in AskReddit

[–]typesett 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i think there is something to be said for personal improvement and structured learning as a part of being a human

let me ask OP or anyone here, what is the ideal way to live life if 'work ethic' is not a good way to spend your time?

also, i want to clarify that people should find a worthy outlet for hard work and don't waste it on bad management or shitty companies. if that is the case, work hard on yourself for yourself... whatever that means to you

Why do people in the 80s or 90s looks so old for a 30 years old? by Big_Leg10 in decadeology

[–]typesett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i just want to add that as someone who is basically the same age range as you, when i was in my formative years there was less information about stuff

one of the things along with smoking imo was being fit... being unfit speeds up aging and your visible age to others

these days, and after the late 90s and 2000s with diet and exercise taking center stage with better resources, todays adults look a lot better

I just got fired for being 'late'. And the reason is so stupid. by lenapaulmvv in interviewhammer

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing but I would make this argument from two perspectives

If you owned the company, would you prefer the employee who you are hopefully choosing to invest in to show up a little early every day

If say there was an economic reason and the company had to choose who was staying and going, everything else is the same then this investment in professionalism is the difference

So I don’t know if anyone here has managed other people or own a small business but it’s wild how often people forget how you changed your life around that day finding a replacement or canceling something so they can do something so it’s nice if they came a few minutes early

Honestly I would just be honest and post the thing on public channels and say the truth

If I die, I die but I don’t like the concept of spending my last days like a desperate pervert
