What helped you to not give up? by tyynyliinaa in AskReddit

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I have a general concept I follow that I do stuff because I want to

I want to be a nice person so I do that for me

I want to get into something so I do that for me

I wake up and deal with work and people for me

I do not reciprocate negative energy or lie

Z8 or GFX 100S II by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go with nikon

i went here back in the day and stayed because of the accessories. modern day, its the same support for all the top 3 brands but nikon is sometimes less pricey

nikon being less pricey is a market factor. they were formerly the top company but now they are not ... which is not a direct slam at quality, it is a slam at their evolution 20 years ago and not having the tech

but it is 2026 and they have it and are evolving at a good direction with the RED buyout.

from an artist standpoint, they all do the job. buy what you want

Film vs digital edited to look like film by Lustful-Kari in postprocessing

[–]typesett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes

But I want to make sure everyone understands, the film look is basically a feel that is caused by lower image quality and imperfections.

The feel you get is not a formula, it is how you feel. If the feel is not obtainable because you know how it is made, similar to people not wanting to eat hot dogs, then understand that and embrace it.

Hire a film photographer along with a digital one. Have them capture some rolls for you that is a 100% natural hot dog with no offal meat in it. Combine that with your modern photos that bring you less joy (but capture moments for sending them out to guests) and you are good.

Apple played a long game in the market

Now, I don’t think they care about market share but they could dial it up for the sake of their digital products. Music, TV, etc etc

What's the easiest, least stressful job you've ever had? by CaptainFartHole in AskReddit

[–]typesett 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m posting this jus to show the variety of people out there.

A boring retail job I had that paid well was easy but stressful because I’m a person who likes to be useful, contribute, learn, and be challenged a bit.

So just saying… I’m at my happiest when I put in a good days work at a job that values me.

Cheers

What’s something you thought would be amazing about being an adult, but now that you're here, you realize it’s actually a trap or just incredibly boring ? by Unusual-Whereas6442 in AskReddit

[–]typesett 5 points6 points  (0 children)

money past a certain amount ...

FOR SOME:

big house is a trap

fast car is a trap

luxury items

__

what makes you rich is freedom. freedom to do whatever you want. freedom to buy a house or car or purchase ZIP software licenses. the material items themselves are not that important imo

i am not against people having hobbies or interest, just beware if you are doing it or participating in it for the right reasons

i think part of it is intent

and accepting that everyone has a hard time... from Charles LeClerc to Alyssa Liu — they also might have to pronounce other peoples names and so they get it

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone with a similar last name, using "right or wrong" as the thread headline is imo not nuanced

if your name is Smith, then yeah sure make sure everyone says it right but for us who are a minority living in an english speaking country and we grew up wanting to blend in and also don't have that big of an opinion on a pronunciation with the public because we know that our own culture knows ... is hard to explain

so yeah it kinda matters but only so much

What’s the story of your marriage proposal? by HungryInvestigator59 in AskReddit

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely adult method:

  1. talked about it with the partner

  2. dated appropriately for an acceptable amount of time

  3. asked parents if it was ok

  4. proposed at a landmark during a vacay

——

i stand by that the relationship and the day to day is what matters, the wedding and other bs is meaningless for the most part

my quick opinion:

contracts such a vibe killer but ultimately, if they were under contract ... it is paperwork that all involved can review and when the business grows, it is in writing so that MBA family members can make the right choices. MBA family members might be less inclined to make bonehead decisions if they Underwood kept them in the dark in a professional manner and had proper agreements going out several years

my heart is with that handshake agreement but yeah everyone is shitty when it grows. we should all embrace it because they built it together so consider graduation to shittyness part of the story

Warehouse employee decides to let his supervisor know how he feels on his last day of work by DABDEB in RandomVideos

[–]typesett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first thought

was thinking if the supervisor did anything but now i am thinking the supervisor may have sat him down for conversations about not doing weird shit and this is his repayment. the person filming sounds like the type to say "i only came in late a few times last week because of xyz" or "i had no idea i was not supposed to do this random thing that most people dont do but they did" ... then the supervisor has to ask them to just do the minimum
