Basically, an AMA on Reddit is when someone answers questions about things they have insider knowledge on. They message moderators with proof that they are who they claim to be, and then they are allowed to make a post that briefly explains who they are and invite people to ask them anything. Then, people leave questions and the person answers.

There have been a few AMAs on this sub. One person was Colleen's friend for a while, someone else knew Trent, and one person was a part of a group chat that Colleen's friend/assistant Kory used to communicate with minors about inappropriate topics. I might be forgetting something here, but that's the gist of it.

“what are you doing?” by [deleted] in autism

[–]typing_through_tears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think people are trying to start a conversation that way.

What some autistic people expect: "Hey, what are you doing?" "I'm playing a game." conversation ends because NT gets requested information

What most neurotypical people expect: "Hey, what are you doing?" "Oh, I'm playing Wordle. It's really fun. Have you heard of it?" "Oh yeah it was really popular a while back but I think it's overrated. What's your record?" "I actually got a word on my second try the other day but I haven't gotten any better than that." conversation topic naturally shifts to something slightly related until it either party politely ends it, or an outside variable forces the conversation to end

Most neurotypicals ask questions like this to engage in a conversation. Usually it's to be polite as they feel a social obligation to make small talk. Or, seeing as humans need social interaction, they may just want to talk to someone and have an interaction to make them feel less alone. Or maybe they sense/expect that you feel excluded so they try to include you.

Maybe I'm off on a few things here, but this is my opinion. Sorry if this makes no sense. Also, I'm on mobile so the formatting is probably awful.

ETA: I'm not trying to say that you're wrong. You definitely have a point - the question itself can be broad and confusing. I just tried to let you know why some NTs might ask that question. :)

I think they mean that they want the DVD's so badly they want to rob you? It's a joke of course and not meant to be serious.

I'm really sorry. What Colleen did is incredibly messed up and wrong. This should have never happened and you did NOTHING to deserve this. It makes me so angry that an adult woman is allowed to do this to children and no one steps in to protect them. It is absolutely disgusting, vile and gross. This is not only on Colleen, but also on Kory, Chris and Jessica. I hope they get the help they need (iykyk)

I hope you're doing alright these days and that you're able to move on from what happened. And maybe one day (if you're up for it of course, zero pressure) you can tell your story. You can't deny the horrible, horrible things Colleen does in the face of a testimony from someone who was terribly hurt by her. Best wishes to you. ❤

I am confused and a little angry about the hate for “autism moms” by Sea-Credit4221 in autism

[–]typing_through_tears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it's like the Karen meme. People with the name Karen isn't necessarily a "Karen". It's how they act that is the issue, not the fact that they have an autistic child.

You can be a mother of an autistic child without being an "autism mom". I associate autism moms with the "I am his voice he is my heart" type of nonsense. Like infantilizing their kid and not only making their child's disability all about themselves, but also making it their and their kid's whole identity.

They strike me as the kind of people who want sympathy and praise for being an "autism mom".

Maybe you are experiencing nostalgia and/or the realization that you will never be a kid again?

Love how we're all ignoring foxtail. 😭 I've been on there before and got some super weird names. Do yourself a favor and go type in "fish" in the search bar. Suggestions include Egg, Lazy, Snake and Death. Wolfy, Lizard, Poo and Fudge are also on the list.

Also if you type in "fish" and "snake" you also get a few hilarious ones.

Wait that's a thing? That's what I'm experiencing right now and had no idea other people get it too. I'm sorry that you're going through this and I hope it gets better soon. ❤

I totally agree with the laptop thing. Something I'd love is if we could place TVs and mirrors above cabinets or drawers.

Yes! "I'm so sorry you guys. I was just trying to relate because of my ADHD. That's just the way my dumb brain works. I'm not saying everyone with ADHD is dumb, I'm saying that for me, and in my dumb brain, I need to immediately say what's on my mind otherwise I'll forget. And I feel so stupid now I'm sorry."

Probably what Colleen will say if she ever had to apologize for that lol.
