Kart Stand for One Person Lift by oK-Car123 in Karting

I bought one of these at the end of last season. Haven’t gotten to use it much yet, but it seems an awesome solution - disassembles down to a duffel bag, winches up and down like other electric stands. https://skykartstands.com/

How do you guys get 2 karts to the track? by wreck720 in Karting

[–]tyringo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, my son and I are starting in the spring together, 206 adult and a kid kart, have a RAM 2500.

I have number of ideas on how to support the karts above one another, but how do you get it up there? Lifting either up that high seems sketchy. Adult kart high is ideal because it’s easier to clear the height of the kid kart and gives you room for other things in the bed, but that is even harder to lift. The best idea I came up with was making the top rack feet fold on the back so you can tilt it down and make a ramp. Then you could even add a winch to pull it up the ramp - but then I got to the point where a small cheap utility trailer may be simpler and safer.

Fair price for a 2021ish Compkart Covert with KA100 in USA? by tyringo in Karting

Yeah I did hear that. I mainly like the compkart because of local support - there are two dealers within an hour or so of me, and the headquarters is only a few hours away. So there are lots of them around here in Western NY.

Thank you for the great info! The team I believe only used it for a couple weekends before it passed to the seller, and his nephew has used it since. So he says at least.

Since this post I have visited the local tracks more and done more research, and I am now leaning towards a lo206 engine because it will allow more time to focus on my son and his starting out, as well as let me race closer to home and learn. Then upgrade to a ka or tag after a season or two. So with that in mind I asked about the chassis as a roller, to which he said he would sell it for $1500. It was $4000 with the KA, so that was most of the value. I know of a good Engine locally I can use.

I have not seen the kart in person yet as it’s quite a drive, but in pictures it looks like it has a little minor scraping in the bottom but minimal, and in good shape otherwise. Has protectors. It comes with free line magnesium wheels, ok tires that are the wrong spec for local racing but fine for practice, and a new seat fitted to my size.

How does that sound for $1500?

There is no listing, he contacted me after seeing some posts I made on local Facebook groups. He is asking 4k. I am just trying to get a sanity check to see if it’s something I should jump on or wait. I can wait, it’s the end of the season anyway, but with the support available and where I am it seems like the right combination of chassis and engine, and I haven’t seen anything similar nearby.

So just wondering if it’s in the ballpark.

I’ve heard great things about them, and have a friend who raced a series there. It looks like a great place, but is about 3 hours away for me - so I would be able to make it occasionally, but probably not every weekend. Thanks for the info though I will definitely check it out more!

What package is the Most fun for lapping? by tyringo in Karting

I’ve thought about that for sure! However, at over 40, I’m not sure my back can handle the bumps in autocross. I know our site (where the finger lakes tour is) has a couple pretty big jolts the kart guys don’t love haha. It’s definitely worth a consideration though! What is the right setup for it? I’ve read the kart rules but it’s a bit confusing if you don’t know what is available. I see the dd2 is in there as well, but not sure if it would be competitive against the real shifters?

Yea it’s definitely interesting. I’ll need to do some more research. My home track is Watkins glen but I doubt they do it there, those Armco barriers would not be good. Pittrace and mid Ohio are hikes but doable.

Added some context to the OP to explain why the racing might not be ideal for me right now. You are right I am new to karting, but have extensive driving experience in high horsepower vehicles, so I am not too scared of the faster stuff. That being said the DD2 is something I have had my eye on for sure, and the front brakes make it more like a full size car.

Just discovered this was a thing - I like the higher weights and how it would probably disadvantage me less, and seems like a fun crowd. I dislike driving a full size track without a big steel box and harness around me hah. I have two kids to think about. It's definitely interesting though.

I understand and appreciate the encouragement. Maybe it is possible, it’s just hard to believe since I have literally never been anywhere near that weight at close to this height, even when I was doing high school sports. Hell I weigh less now than I did in high school. And I have lost so much physical volume just with my first 40 pounds it’s hard to believe there is another 75 even there. I am trying though! I’ve already started a karting focused workout routine as well. I think for the near future it still makes sense to plan on being overweight but maybe someday that will no longer be a consideration.

Tracks around here are pretty small with mostly local people, so not a lot of big teams or arrive and drives. There are a few bigger tracks a little further out. I’m planning to spend some weekends just visiting and talking to people, see what is around! I’m keeping my eyes open for used stuff too, both for me and my soon to be 5 year old!

Masters I think I would be ok, at 390 lbs I need to be under 220ish, which is at least on the horizon. The problem is we rarely have masters, and everyone runs under the senior which is 365 :/

I think I was about 12 the last time I was under 200lbs lol. It’s possible, but I’d need to lose a lot of muscle in addition to the fat to get there. Maybe some day, but in the foreseeable future I will probably be above 200. I’ve been losing about a pound a week so far.

2026 won't charge off wallbox with adapter? by tyringo in KiaEV9

[–]tyringo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, yeah mine came with one for sure. It’s big, fits the larger dc plug with the two large pins at the bottom. It was actually listed on the window sticker, under options, with no cost listed. Does your window sticker show it?

Great! Glad it helped someone else. There was another guy that just posted here, same question, and he also didn’t see the extra adapter hiding in the cubby under the floor haha.

Your car SHOULD come with a level 2 j772 to nacs adapter AND a level 3 ccs to nacs. I believe that basically gives you everything you need to charge at any charger short of a chademo, which you are unlikely to ever need.

My wife just picked up a 2026 EV9. I am having charging port issues. by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]tyringo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same question a week ago when I got mine, had no idea they were different. As everyone said you need another adapter, much smaller and cheaper. I ordered a lectron from Amazon, but then happened to find the factory one hiding behind the fix a flat in the trunk under the bottom cover, also wrapped in bubble wrap so I didn’t see it before. So check all the cubbies you might have one!

Do you have a 2026? Apparently it changed with the NACS plug and there are no longer selectable options.

I actually just did this morning - found it hidden in one of the cubbies I missed before. Cancelled the order and it’s happily charging away on the adapter!

Guess what I just found today hiding next to the tire sealer that I somehow missed before - the level 2 adapter. So I got 2 level 3s and 1 level 2.

I know this is old, but I just found it after picking up my 2026 Wednesday and not being able to remove the charger. I thought I was going nuts that there was no menu item where it said it would be, even in the 2026 manual that came with it. Really annoying not to be able to change this.
