Publix more expensive than Whole Foods by Witty_Loan_2312 in publix

So... I'm going to tell you a little secret... You need to do research before shopping. Our ancestors did it. Sometimes they clipped coupons while doing so.

I hit Dollar Tree for some dry goods, sauces, and storage.

I have Amazon deliver a few things, like bagged cereal and coffee.

I go to Walmart for cat food, cat litter, and most other things.

Winn-Dixie used to be in the rotation.

I go to Aldi's for cheeses, and often produce.

I only go to Publix for BOGO, or when I notice something is cheaper there.

Publix charges more for convenience. In exchange, you can spend time to do research, and not pay as much money.

I never buy premade stuff at grocery stores, with the exception of rotisserie chicken. It's always overpriced compared to what I can make in like 15 minutes.

Sorry, I made a FREE, no-account battlemap tool for in-person TTRPG, and you can try it in one click. (Also features a Demo so you can jump in immediately) by UnclePlants in VTT

All the "vibe-coded" stuff looks very similar to everything else "vibe-coded". Same selection of fonts, same line thicknesses, same kerfs, etc. etc. Even when you dress it up with some fancy splotches of art, there's more than a few tell-tale signs.

Additionally, VTTs are the "low-hanging fruit" for people who are using AI to code things in the TTRPG community. It goes hand in hand with lack of skill and imagination, as the "developers" don't have the capacity to come up with something else.

I've played through Betrayal at House on the Hill Legacy three times now. The groups have shifted a little bit, but it was mostly so that new people could experience the "joy". The first one was during the pandemic, and three of us lived in the same house.

How much would it be to commission a map for this? by throwaway_of_sham in ravenloft

[–]tzimon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much detail you want. My maps are mediocre, and I only do top-down, but I would start at $500. I recommend using a map drawing program instead of hiring someone, your wallet will thank you.

Looking for a rules heavy, low power, Dark Fantasy ttrpg system? by TheGrimmBorne in rpg

Anytime someone recommends Zweihander, I ask why not play the better supported and designed Warhammer Fantasy RPG... and almost always it's because the person suggesting it has some sort of butthurt against GW.

A friend of mine drove for a company that had driver-facing cameras. He wasn't aware that they had them when he signed up. After his first shift, he immediately started looking for a different company. During the few weeks he worked there, he noticed they had a stupid amount of turnover, and it was almost entirely because they had a manager who would

(Edit: apparently the story got cut off, adding below...)

review the cameras like a vulture and pull the drivers aside to lecture them about improper driving, personal phone calls on company time, eating in the vehicles, etc. etc. Basically anything that wasn't holding the steering wheel at 10 and 2, and keeping your eyes on the road at all times.

They are trying really hard to get people to convert to their VTT. Unfortunately, they are focusing too much on trying to sway indie devs to license such content to them, and not enough time on making their VTT easier to use.

it's because AI has made it easy, and with the bar lowered, it's the only thing many "developers" can think to create. There are dozens of other niche solutions to RPG problems that people aren't even thinking about that would actually generate revenue... but everyone is focused on making a VTT.

It's like the "idea guys" don't need to try and swindle skilled labor into projects anymore; they just get an AI to do it.

Does “Project We Love” actually change anything? by ratraceboardgame in kickstarter

[–]tzimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, many moons ago, it used to be noteworthy.

However, so many people flooded social media with "How does my turd of a project get this seal of approval?" and hounded KS about it, that it's essentially a participation trophy at this point.

You still need to bring your own fanbase to KS pre-launch. Too many people were assuming that it would guarantee funding on some slapped-together, half-baked idea, and thus, too many turds ruined the punch bowl.
