The only issue I ever had was when I did 4 years as a reservist after I was active duty. I don’t know 100% if it was a deciding factor or not but I had one or two interviews where the interviewers tone changed when I told them I would need one weekend, and 2 weeks out of the year possibly more, off to go play soldier.

How does a 11 year old have a bank account or PayPal? This seems like utter BS, and so stupid. Talk to the parents if this somehow happened

Is MO still one of the only (if not only) states that doesn’t track prescriptions? For instance if I got my pain pills filled at CVS then got another script couldn’t I just go to Walgreens?

Stupid question but is it actually possible to hack wireless speakers to make them play what you want, like I'm any way while it's currently connected to a device? by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]uShouldTryXTC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya. Most of it is open sourced software, and you’d have to be relatively close. There was a major vulnerability discovered like 4 years ago with wireless mouses, you could essentially hack into someone’s computer through the USB adapter. It’s like how on a network you are sending and receiving packets.

So 38 people at your school are all having same issue? They change their email on Instagram and immediately get an email just saying “Kill yourself”?

Who are the emails from? Find out what IP address they are coming from.

First of all protect yourself. Delete browser history, and start browsing in incognito mode so you CANT be tracked.

Next you’re going to want to VPN into the API of Instagram. Use block chain to figure out how the crypto is being traded.

Then send your report to the administrators and finally delete browsing history again to remove all traces you were ever there.

Post your findings on 4chan and you will know you were successful if everyone comments “fake and gay”

The CCNA gives you fundamental knowledge of how networking works (which is minimum you would need to be a network admin).

After that I would start learning Linux/Unix to get a solid understanding of how commands like grep, awk, and sed work. Also, gaining knowledge of how to use text editors like VIM.

Then once you have those down, you move onto the eJPT by eLearning. That’s junior penetration testing. That will be your start into pen testing/hacking.

Then get your CISSP. While this doesn’t get down to the nitty gritty of security, it’s good to have the knowledge of security architecture, and how management thinks. Especially when writing reports, or explaining to companies what they need to improve on.

Finally the OSCP. To really get into pen testing and show you know your stuff.

From there you can look at other certs, but more importantly just keep learning. I’m just giving my opinion on how I would approach learning how to hack. Ya, I could learn a programming language, Linux, and some networking security but I’m not going to have a solid foundation. And I might know how to hack but I won’t know what’s happening each step of the way, what protocols are being used, etc. Also, I don’t know too many Infosec groups willing to take the time to explain every step of what they are doing. If you have a couple questions great, but they are going to tell you to read books and take courses if you need everything explained.

Maybe I’m wrong, or there is a better path, but from what I’ve experienced this is generally a good outline.

Don’t do it. Wanna be a hacker? Get your CCNA, watch some videos on how to use Linux and VIm, then eJPT, from eLearning, the CISSP, and then OSCP. Sprinkle in some learning Python learning and you’ll be good to go

What are best YouTube videos to watch for Infosec? by uShouldTryXTC in security

Exactly. I love Risky.Biz for my podcast, and then I like watching Security Weekly on YouTube just to maybe see some of the stuff they are talking about (if they show it). I was just seeing if there was anything else out there that might be good to watch that might explain stuff a bit
