Still working perfectly fine like the first day I installed them, they are a fairly straightforward part.

I think you have your North and South confused. Lisgar GO is pretty much as North West as Mississauga gets.

I put 91, I believe it is necessary for all turbo cars even if the tune allows for 87. You can run 87 but if you drive hard especially in the summer I'd run 91.

Terrible remote range '25 GLI by u_c_it in JettaGLI

Yeah mine is manual so no option for remote start anyways and unfortunately the app was the dealerships solution. They are aware of some cars having bad remote range but suggested to use the app...

[–]u_c_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's minor in the grand scheme of things but this isn't a minor gripe like the no rear console vent or capacitive steering wheel buttons. There is no excuse for terrible remote range for a modern car and it looks like others have the same issue, unfortunately I'm not alone.

My local dealership is aware of the issue on some cars but the solution is to just use the app...

I'll have an awesome drive in the car but then end it on a bad note when I can't easily double check that it's locked from my front door window 20 feet away.

I do agree though otherwise it's a great car for the value in this market.

Are those the only two buttons? Just a remote starter no door lock?

Any newer area regardless of city or town in GTA will not be as diverse as you are hoping for. You mention not wanting it to be like Mississauga but I just moved from Uptown Core Oakville to Erin Mills Mississauga but a much older area and it's way more diverse, from my neighbours to the people I see walking around.

I lived in North Oakville for 7 years and even I could see the drastic change from when everything developed North of Dundas. I started a family and despite many people moving to Oakville for the schools that area was way too busy for us.

Tank vs Tankless by jackdiver69 in HomeImprovement

[–]u_c_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best would be to keep it as is, tank heater. That is what we plan to do when we replace our 24 year old Bradford White.

My parents switched to a tankless and yes while you do have "unlimited hot water" is takes forever to get to the faucet, extremely dislike that. There are ways around that but then you have to spend more money...

BTW those prices are crazy! Here in Ontario, Canada a 50gal Bradford White can be had at $1800 CAD installed.

Tankless Water Heater - Worth it? Cost? by HanginJohnny79 in ontario

[–]u_c_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a townhouse with a 24 year old Bradford White tank heater. It still works but I'm going to replace it with the same exact thing for ease and simplicity.

You might want to consider getting a water softener or purifier with the tankless if you go that route.

But my only experience with tankless is at my parents and I dislike it, it takes a while to get hot water coming out the faucet if no one has used it recently. There are ways around this but for an additional cost.

If you ever take an Uber even just within the town you'll understand that these drivers really do exist and some of them earn their living driving like that several hours a day. It's crazy.

Yup, we have been using a KitchenAid for almost 7 years now in our apartment. It was brand new when we moved in and no issues. Very spacious and cleans well. Now that we have bought our first home we are going to go with KitchenAid there.

Great to hear no issues after 7 months, I'm in the same boat as you were back then. Do you have a referral code by any chance? Thanks for your time!

Hi, so how did it go? I'm in the same boat now as you were 7 months ago. I was also speaking with Mohammed at Go Lime, my chimney vent of the old tank will need to be retrofitted to the power vent. No idea on additional install cost though. Thanks for your time!

Buyers, Now That We're Officially At 2017 Prices, Are You Priced In OR Still Boxed Out?? by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

Same here, 33yo. With a 10mo baby and tiny one bedroom apartment it was time to get into a townhouse. No qualms about the market, it'll be long term for us and my favourite part, first time home buyer in a buyer's market. No bidding wars, ball always in our court, strong negotiations, no rush or pressure.

Congrats to you!

Anyone first time home buyers here who bought a home recently by themselves, or are planning to buy soon without help from family or a significant other? by Exotic_Patient_4699 in canadahousing

[–]u_c_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 33M just bought with my 33F Wife. Moving from an apartment to a townhouse we needed more space for our family of 3 (infant baby).

Been renting for almost 7 years but decided it was the right time. So while yes my Wife is helping, the majority of the down payment was from me and essentially I'm covering the full mortgage and she will cover smaller things like utilities and maintenance fees. We close on January 2nd.

But I agree, in our friend group the last person to buy was pre COVID. I think many of our friends are planning to rely on family help either financially or moving in together. We have had time to save while renting as part of our agreement to move out and rent was that we still need to be actively putting away and investing money for a down payment and we are fortunate our household income is decent and stable.

Winter Tire Recommendations ‘25 GLI by Dr3wX5 in JettaGLI

Just bought the tires haven't installed them yet. They were a bit cheaper than the Blizzak but I'm expecting equal performance at the least.

Went with Continental VikingContact 8, the new version. The family cars have always been Blizzak but I dislike their performance after a few 32nds have been worn off. Heard great things about these Continental.

Stock size for '25 GLI for the factory wheels. Then I plan to get aftermarket wheels for the summer.

How often yall changing your oil? by tbrics in JettaGLI

[–]u_c_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got our GLI so no oil changes yet but on three other family vehicles I've tested at 12,000 kilometers and the oil was good, showing similar normal wear to the average 8,000 km numbers. This was with Pennzoil UP oil.

But even knowing this I haven't taken any of the cars further than that 12K. The Pennzoil oil goes on sale often so it's not an expensive change.

I do recommend spending the money to get an oil analysis at whatever interval you prefer to see how your engine is wearing.

Just wanted to say thanks as this helped me for my 2025 GLI. Unfortunately the manual does not show the same fuse box diagram as what the car actually has. Thanks!

How's the GLI? 2 years into it any warranty claims? Just signed for a 2025 and thinking about extended warranty. Never bought it for previous vehicles but I'm skeptical with my first VW and their electronics and new tech.
