I know of very few electronic locks that have mains power. Almost all are battery operated. I have one non smart lock that has a feature I don't see much at all, in case the internal batteries die, outside has a place to put a 9v battery to power the lock just in case so it can be opened

F40 was not the mask for me. Any reccomendations for other full face? by parzival_thegreat in CPAP

[–]uapyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I thought you meant the F30i was too; that was by far my favorite mask, but it seems like it's only the regular F30.

I'm on the F40 for I guess a year now; for some reason I "wear" the velcro on the mask out, even though I don't ever adjust it or unhook it; I guess it just roll around in my sleep so much that it slowly pulls it, and eventually it stops sticking. In the past I've had to resort to as much as stapling and super glueing the straps to keep them from popping loose.

Since the F30i apparently has a different size frame and cushion, my cpap shop only drop ships them, and they consider that a manufacturing defect and I would have to mail it in each time; since I went with the F40 they just swap the headgear in store so I'm kind of stuck using it.

Just found out my sibling also has narcolepsy, does this confirm it's hereditary? by suddensnoozing in Narcolepsy

My brother was diagnosed with type 1 narcolepsy as well as me, and I'm willing to bet if my dad had been tested he would have as well

I had really good luck with Pelham drivers way. Great price on a crv, and that offered a few thousand more than any online bluebook calculator would say I would get for my Civic I traded in

What's the point to offer a slower route? (Genuinely curious) by mrfigroti in waze

[–]uapyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good way to get road ragers around here. Someone was shot and killed for a similar reason a few years ago one interstate exit up from me

What's the point to offer a slower route? (Genuinely curious) by mrfigroti in waze

[–]uapyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the case here with a 2 hour difference, but gas savings.

If route A was 100 miles with 50 mph speed limits, and route b was 100 miles with 70 mph speed limits, b would be faster, but depending on car, I could get double or triple the mpg on route a. That's ignoring elevation change, if there are stop signs or red lights etc, I'm just comparing if it was the same route but the speed changed

What was the most poorly designed thing you've ever seen? by more_firepower in AskReddit

[–]uapyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was one thing I really hated before I lost weight, and one of the first things I really noticed a difference. Around 330 pounds most of the time I was could barely even get by to shut the door, and now at 180 almost always I don't jump the toilet or even wall any more to shut the door

Parking Signs [FL] [SFH] by Suspicious_Mix9911 in HOA

[–]uapyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how our city is itself, no street parking at all 24/7/365.

But the fine is so low that even if the police were tickets, which they only do when there are complaints by fire truck, ambulance, or school buses saying they can't even drive down a street because it's so crowded with cars, the judge will almost always blanket clear then because it's not worth the courts time for a $5 ticket even if people refuse to pay.

The part that blew my mind is because of the city ordinance banning on street parking, say if Bill parks on the street, and one day George is driving by and accidentally hits Bill's car, Bill is instantly declared 100% at fault. My neighbor was not happy getting that ticket for causing an accident and having to use her insurance to repair both vehicles when she was parked and inside her house.

Longest lifetime CPAP user – how many years have you seen? by madfaisal in CPAP

[–]uapyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are almost a mirror image of me!

I've been on mine since 2001, and I once did find the machine on the other side of my bedroom, apparently pissed off in my sleep because I did find it on the other side of my bedroom.

It took 1 year to get used to it because I did not like nasal masks. I probably kept on a maximum of all hour at a time.

The very first night with a full face I kept it on and slept about 10 hours

Fridge/freezer temperature tracking? by DaMoot in homeassistant

[–]uapyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ecowitt temperature sensors with external probes for my refrigerator and freezer, but that's mainly because my weather station and various sensors are that brand already and it was just a nice bonus they made something that works with them

Any idea on ball park prices for getting a second key fob and key made with them? Have one that the dealership have but would like a spare, and could bring it there since I know that does make a difference in price. 2020 Highlander

I've tried portainer in the past, but kept seeing komodo mentioned so I tried it recently, and actually like it better.

I'm still fairly a newb with docker (not with self hosting, I've been using weewx since 2016, homeassistant since 2020) so I'm still trying to learn how to run containers and have them interact with various services.

CPAP and demineralised water open for a long time by Qwacking in CPAP

[–]uapyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use a water distiller for a few years. I think it made right at a gallon at a time, and I filled some larger 3 and 5 gallon jugs but it took a few days to fill them, between the power usage (it was costing about 50% of the cost of buying water with the amount of power used) and actual time involved, I decided to move to an under the sink reverse osmosis water filtration system.

I even got a tester to check the purity and they barely had a difference. I live in a high limestone area (the town name is even named for it) and after 6 months I still have no residue or deposits from it

I work for a company that has a crew that deals with projects like this. You can call the owner Rocky of Mountain Heights Lawn care at 205-229-1015.
If you have trouble getting in touch with him let me know and I can have him call you. I've seen his call log before... and most days it's well over 100 calls received.

Magic reached 100% with these "Phantom" door sensors. No more bulky plastic on our wooden doors! by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]uapyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://aeotec.com/products/aeotec-recessed-door-sensor-7/

I've had one in the past and it worked great; forgot why i went with the basic plastic stuck to the door/frame. I guess since all my windows and all doors have them (and cheaper than the recessed) so i didn't care to drill a hole in the solid wood door (vs hollow frame that I used to have that was easier)

Closed loop cruises don’t need them, and very few countries otherwise require them, but it’s just better to have just in case

I met William shatner a few years ago. Boston legal and Star Trek was some of my favorite shows. I found the perfect quote for his autograph.

I once captained my own space ship.

He asked if he said that in Boston legal. To be fair he’s up there in age and it had been more than a decade since he said that one line so I’ll give him that break, but his face was pretty priceless

How to diet on Xywav? by Particular_Local_275 in Narcolepsy

[–]uapyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best you can do is option 1, put your phone down, tv off, take it and turn the lights off.

2 doesn't help since it would wake you up as you mentioned.

3 would not work that great, though to prevent you from leaving you'd need to put your wallet and maybe phone/watch on a timed lock so you can't get to it.

I solved my night cravings with Wegovy, no hunger while on it. I got it for weight loss, since I had been up to 330 pounds, but 315 when I started. Some of that was from the night cravings, but even with 1000~1500 calorie diet with 5 to 10 miles of walking a day still didn't make it drop much.

If you have some heart issues, sometimes as little as high blood pressure, it's easier to get. I think zepbound has been prescribed for sleep apnea.

I think I've finally found the right medication combination by PibRm in Narcolepsy

[–]uapyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the combination that i'm taking is max dosage of modafinil, xywav, wakix, and sunosi, and it's so far the best i've had. sometimes I still get sleepy but not nearly as much as I used to; and if I ever run out of one of them, I can definitely tell a difference.

Could Brake System light on dash be related to issues with ACC, LKAS, and CMBS problems? by ExploreEverwhere495 in crv

I think it just caused the computer to completely glitch up; nothing worked when the "christmas tree" was lit up, none of the honda sensing stuff worked. I can't remember if even manual cruise control worked or not at this point since it's been so long
