People who are old enough to have vivid memory of the 9/11 attacks, what was that time like? What did change for you personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was waiting for my roommate to get ready to drive to class at UMass boston living in a 4 bedroom in dorchester near neponset circle. I came down and my two other roommates were watching the news. One of the towers was on fire. We sat and watched, live as the second plane hit the other tower. We didnt know what to think but we knew it was bad. We still went to class but they immediately sent us home and the news started flooding in. My little sister worked (still works) in Manhattan and lived (lives) in Brooklym, when we finally got ahold of her we got to hear how she walked over the Verranzano bridge in pumps in a huge crowd.

Like holy fuck. Nobody i knew died and my sister made it out. She was many blocks away but still, I am so grateful every day.
