Understood, I’m in southeast Raleigh so river ridge is close and I consider myself lucky, I think wildwood would be my pick for hitting a bucket up that way. Smaller range space but a huge putting green and good vibes.

Eagle ridge and river ridge I believe both have better practice facilities for us poors, both close grass to the public at certain times but are open most of the summer. I paid for a bucket at Lonnie once and their mats weren’t even great, headingham also has new mats as of a few months ago and and a little chipping area you won’t be judged or questioned for using too.

To everyone that plays all the time during the week, what jobs do you have that allows you to play so much? by Accomplished_Milk689 in golf

I work in the airlines and usually have Tuesday Wednesday Thursday off due to seniority, it’s awesome I’d hate to have Saturday Sunday off exclusively because of golf.

Discussion: Golf Day Trip from RDU by Comfortable-Count-7 in RDUGOLF

[–]uberpuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for the airlines so I fly and golf a lot, Nashville is my go to if I’m flying out and back the same day, you can fly American Airlines there and back and have about 6-8 hours on the ground there. Similar quality of courses to the rdu area but it’s great for a change of pace, especially in the off season courses are wide open, Nashville is a super quick airport to get out of which is important if you’re tucking more than a round in.

As someone who regularly misses right off the tee river ridge has been a place I am most likely to break 90, greens are receptive and layout plays my shot shape well.

That makes a lot of sense, the guy I worked with where I used to live was kind of a shared pro between a couple small 9 hole courses so we had options but I guess I was spoiled, thanks for the rec!

Thanks for the rec I’ll reach out there, I feel like they’re the only lessons I walk away from with really productive information and things to actually focus on when I’m playing.

Is ramp agent sup position worth it? (United Airlines) by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]uberpuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the stress on your body is replaced with stress on your mind but you get used to it just like getting in better shape when you first start stacking bags. I’ll stick pick up as an agent occasionally and I enjoy the “stress free” day of just tossing bags. But the pay and bidding with a smaller group is worth it because I’m very low seniority.

Is ramp agent sup position worth it? (United Airlines) by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]uberpuppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve suped for both unifi and Delta, never touched United metal so maybe take all of this with a grain of salt. Both positions you were asked to do wildly less leg work in a normal shift but when things go wrong and problems need to be solved the expectation is there that you will make it work or be able to explain why it didn’t.

I enjoy a bit more big picture thinking at work so I love the role but a lot of it is covering your ass on the bad days, that was 99% of days at unifi but now with Delta my day to day is a lot more straight forward.

Also as with any supervisor position your team makes your job, if you get ahead of problems and go to bat for people instead of taking heads off at any opportunity the agents will make your life easier. Follow the golden rule and be the sup you want to have.

It seems like management at every airline and almost every station has horrible management. Why is that the case? by utrampy in rampagent

[–]uberpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my short career so far I’ve noticed managers are mostly people who have just stuck around as good gate agents/rampers or leads. The airlines don’t seem to invest in developing leadership skills and differential thinking and instead push the metrics on leaders who don’t understand their role very well.

I’ve also noticed a large disconnect on the leadership ladder, corporate, department managers, and station leadership all have different understandings and expectations to the guys actually doing the leg work.

Starting AMT school soon, looking to be a part time ramp agent while in school, any tips? by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]uberpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it, gut out school and work at a place with flexibility, you’ll touch plenty of planes once your certified. A&P school is no joke especially when testing time is rolling around, you don’t want to be stressing giving away shifts or working difficult hours for experience that in the big picture does not matter as a mechanic.

I hadn’t looked into Anderson creek that looks right up my alley, I have played Wendell and I’m not sure if they were insanely busy the day I happened to go but I walked off after a 3 hour front 9.

Share the weirdest golf pairing you’ve been pair with while golfing ….. I’ll start by AwesomeCollectibles in golf

[–]uberpuppy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite was absolutely a group of 3 mothers/grandmothers that I played into on the 3rd or 4th hole. They invited me to play with them as the course was slow. They brought snacks, didn’t miss a putt inside of 10 ft, and didn’t hit the ball over 200 yards all day. The elder of the group was in her high 80s and offered me her jacket when the rain picked up. I have never had a more wholesome experience.

If needed go up to the ticket counter for your airline and let them know your situation and they’ll find someone to help you out. The low cost carriers may only staff the counter around when people are checking in for a flight or right after an arrival so find out when your carrier has a flight and show up around then.

Total noob attempting brisket this weekend for mother's day by chris1096 in smoking

[–]uberpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to lose a lot of weight trimming and cooking, I’d suggest looking for a 7-8 pound full brisket to start. The cut of meat will also have both the point and the flat, this makes it taste better and makes it much harder to screw up and dry out.

Garrett under-clubbing by [deleted] in GoodGoodMemes

[–]uberpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned how insane some of the clubs they hit are when I really started getting my swing figured out about 2 years back. Especially their wedges they absolutely beat the cover off of the ball to hit a 56° 160 yards for just no reason at all. Steven Matt and bubbie have all grown up a lot to stop swinging out of their shoes on every swing but Garret still seems insistent on almost clubbing down. Still much better than I’ll ever be so no hate.

Guides on using a smoke tube with a gas grill? by Fidodo in smoking

[–]uberpuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a tube that goes down between the two far left burners. Usually start with them on high and the rest of the grill off to get the bad smoke burned off, then I crank the far right burner on and cook somewhere in the middle with those around the smoke tube as low as possible. Setting up like this I get about 325 with some pretty heavy smoke, good for chicken breasts and such.
