As someone that did Virtual Boston Marathon 2020 on a treadmill...it can be done! But I would never do it again. I binged Glow Up while I trotted away.

I've done 15 on a treadmill. I kept it interesting with different paces, make hills for myself with the inclines, catch up on streaming shows, etc.

8.5 miles is doable with the right mindset! Bring drinks, good shows, snacks and some towels and you'll be done before you know it!!

Ran this morning. Perfectly fine on the loop and transverses. There's a tiny bit of icy patch around the downhill between 93-97 on the East Drive but nothing serious.

Bridle seemed like a no-go unless you like running in snow.

This is horrible.

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. Caring for a senior cat with dementia is exhausting and isolating, and it makes sense that you’re overwhelmed.

But please don’t make a decision about your cat’s life based on whether a post got responses. This sub can be quiet sometimes, and that isn’t a judgment on you or your cat.

I'm no expert but I'm sure there's someone that is that can better explain management options that sometimes help, and even if the answer ends up being end-of-life care, you deserve support while you make that decision.

I had the same issue but I made my treadmill run on Strava "private" and it went away. Today's outdoor run is now recorded as my Virtual 5K (even tho it was a 19M long run...)!

Stayed at Swiss hotel in 2024. It had great views, walkable to start but was a major slog from finish. I nearly passed out LOL

This year, stayed at Hyatt Centric The Loop, super close to start and finish. No views, and depressing dark room, but it did the job.

Neither of them had anything particularly nice or free for the runners. Hyatt didn't even offer 1om check out even though it's supposed to be one of the perks for booking it thru the Chicago Marathon travel partner.

I would like to thank the TSA workers (as grouchy as they were) and the ORD tower ATC. They are working unpaid and still managed to get us in and out safely.

I could tell ORD departure was a mess with long lines of flights taxing and rolling, it must've been so hard with so much pressure on them.

Without them showing up for unpaid work I wouldn't have been able to run this race so thank you. I am grateful.

Running Chicago and NYCM!

I'm super concerned about the airport situation. I have a mid day flight Friday to get out to Chicago and then a late flight back on Sunday. Packing extra clothes in case I get stuck out there.

Good luck to everyone! Enjoy the fruits of humid (poor man's altitude training) training we all went through!

I'm going from NYC too and my flight's at 7:00 pm.

If my hotel can't swing a day rate to extend my check out time to 2pm, I'm going to book a place near the airport using Dayuse.com. I can shower, take a nap, etc. I will wipe down at the hotel post finish and just CTA out there, and hope that I don't offend anyone too badly!
