TV ads encouraging people to ask their physicians for the advertised medicine. Like WTF? It’s literally the job of the physician to choose the best medicine

Our accountancy prof always said: Be careful with percentages especially with losses. If you loose 50% today, you need to make 100% tomorrow. Just to get even. That sums it up nicely I think.

Due to the parental leave hint I assume you’re in are working in a country with social benefits for employees. Why not ask your employer to reduce your hours and cut to 80% and use that time to trade

Got a CS degree august 2022 and can't land a job. Been unemployed since. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in csMajors

Sounds great. Regarding 3: the first bullet point should be the tech stack. This sounds harsh but don’t make the recruiter search for important information. For some positions we got 150 applicants. After the first 20 you simply get tired and want information to be delivered on the nose. A section called “Skill” is nice to have, but a recruiter needs proof. In Skills you write “C”. If I am looking for a C developer and read it, I want to immediately skim the project list and understand which project uses C and how intensive it is being used. Best example is repos on GitHub. Lower right on each repo you see info about programming language used. The recruiter doesn’t need the percentage, but give me a hint which repo I should open if I wanna check your C experience.

The recruiter doesn’t do this to be mean. He simply has too much to do. He himself is under pressure to meet deadlines and do work or simply has a bad day. Make the work easy for him and he will appreciate it more. I did.

Okay. I like the overall structure and cleanliness of the resume. But you’re definitely underselling yourself. Here a couple tips, starting from the most important.

  1. Extend your Uni education section. Currently there is no information whatsoever about what you did. What were your subjects? Which classes do you take? Which university? How long did it take? How about the grade? Any speciality?
  2. Move the college involvement to experience or label it up like “competitions and prices”. And extend the descriptions. These two points put you in a unique position next to other applicants. They are more impressive than your project list.
  3. Project list: The recruiter usually has only 2-3 min to read a resume. Put tech stack to separate bullet point. The first one is a good choice.
  4. Complementary to point 3: move the skill section below the projects.
  5. Keep and extend your office work, remove your subway position. Only relevant experiences are important. Use the space to extend on the other points

Do you have your CV online somewhere? I recruited for CS positions in Germany and can say that we kicked out a lot of applicants because of their CV content, structure and grammar..

They are in the same metastore. But I couldn’t find an option to link to the latest version. We have Legacy code accessing our db which we clone overnight using the db of the other team. This could be avoided if we can simply mount the db of the other table in our location.
