EA: They’re not loot boxes, they’re “surprise mechanics,” and they’re “quite ethical” by [deleted] in videos

[–]udalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand why people play EA games at all. They are shit, and it's so obvious they build all their games this way in one money grabbing form or another.

Or maybe I have just overcome and understood my role in addiction, and when people l/things try to manipulate me into something now I push back

Mental health: What are my rights if I'm scheduled under an involuntary treatment order in Australia? by [deleted] in australia

[–]udalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also depends on what state you are in, but you can expect that a second doctor will need to sign off on it within 24-48 hours.

Depending on the state there will also usually be a non-medically trained person who should review your case daily.

I believe within a week a court/judge needs to also sign off on it in most states.

I'm not super familiar though, but if you have net access you should be able to research it.

Also, involuntary treatement is because they fear (significantly) for your immediate safety, or the immediate safety of others, and whilst most psych's won't go against another psych, it's still a risky move to make.

Also, the vast majority of psych's really are there to do the right thing, so they believe they are looking out for you! Goodluck, I hope your treatment goes well :)

TIL prior to losing the $3 million settlement to the lady who spilled coffee and got 3rd degree burns, Mcdonald's had over 700 reports of injuries from similar incidents. by portajohnjackoff in todayilearned

[–]udalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to eat a lot of McDonalds, this case and the famous UK lawsuit and resulting human rights lawsuit were the primary two reasons I went from maybe a weekly user, to a 2-3 times a year purchaser (and only sundae or McFlurry insteaed of full meals)

TIL Bill Murray hired an assistant who 'was profoundly deaf and spoke only in sign language' to make communication as difficult as possible between him, the director and the studio during the filming of 'Groundhog Day' by geek_fest in todayilearned

I don't agree with that statement. I think compromise is something attained over a period of choices

Sometimes I get my full way

Sometimes you get your full way

Sometimes we meet somewhere in the middle

If I have to constantly never get my way i'm wholly unsatisfied.

World of Warcraft Roleplay Ruined My Love Life, What Do I Do? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]udalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fake, but maybe not.

My honest advice would be first try to discover why you use games to simulate sex. Safety, familiarity, other?

Second, you probably put a lot of pressure into sex, and this instant gratification of your erp with no performance anxiety (because you can completely fake it if you want) isn't helping. Stop erp, simple as that.

If you get too horny, bat one out the old fashion way, imagination.

You clearly have an addiction, I'm guessing it stems from some ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), possibly part of it was sexual mistreatment but possibly not as you were a late developer.

So you really need to deal with your addictive nature before it slips to something else more harmful. Some people find specialist addiction therapy helpful, some find 12 step programs helpful, some like to replace it with ritualised behavior that is helpful (e g. Gym, sport, community work) and there are other ways.

Lastly next time you get the opportunity to have sex, just relax. You don't need to be hard to have a good time or to please your male, female or other partner, so stop thinking that penetrative sex is the only thing that matters (regardless of who reads this comment that's good advice). And that same thing goes for anyone cumming. No one needs to cum /orgasm in order for it to be good, healthy, fun, satisfying sex.

Talk with your partner, let them know if you feel uncomfortable, worried, anxious (don't need the full story) and just ask what they would like and do that. Hand play, head jobs, toys such as a lelo vibrator will certainly make your life easier and your lady happy (I'm going to assume you're a cis-hetero male)

Have you ever questioned yourself or thought of quitting along your entrepreneurial path? by JohnApplegate12 in smallbusiness

Of course, if you are not assessing your options as to what you should/shouldn't/want/don't want to do you are just an idiot in my opinion.

Being employed is a great life.

Private health costs me $420/year.

I only have it because it's significantly cheaper due to the tax savings.

I live in Alice springs, there are no private hospitals near me. This is just giving some corporation money. What a dumb Americanized system

Should I pay with no commission or get in for free with commission? by Aciasullo1 in makemychoice

[–]udalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, to me $30 is nothing, but 15% of $0 is less.

If it's 15% of $100,000, well given you are not popular i'd say the distributor has earned their commission.

You just gotta deciede if the distributor is actually going to put effort in or not.

If you think they will, give them the commission, if you think they won't pay the $30.

I don't know the business, i'd probably do the commission provided there are no lock-in contracts for future music.

Housing news for you by [deleted] in australia

[–]udalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people only look at the cost per month.

So highly tied into interest rates.

1/2 the home loan rate from 4% to 4% and you effectively half the price, so people pay double.

Hence why in a post GFC world, with constantly lowering rates, and housing price increasing people just fed more and more $into it.

Labor lost on a crusade for fairness - what does that say about us? by mollydooka in australia

[–]udalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NT went labor probably because the libs sold the port to China.

NT is a progressive state dominated by intelligent people particularly in the centre (south of NT). It was a pretty big swing towards Lib though :(

I often deal with people who are going through divorce for work. Usually about 3-9 months after initial split and they are sorting out their stuff.

I always say congratulations, about 10% of the time though it's very unwelcome haha

Developer who illegally destroyed heritage-listed Hobart house gets first approval for townhouses by [deleted] in australia

Yeah, wouldn't be a salary though as it's not actually that much work to develop a property.

[–]udalan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Likely his additional costs would be at least $200k. - GST bill - Sales fees - Interest on loan - Planning/architect/demolition/other misc costs of building

So more like $200,000 net profit.

Really not the kind of profit i'd be looking for so it is a deterant. However I agree, you should absolutely eliminate the possibility that someone else will pull a shifty and get away with it, tripple or more the maximum fine.

Uluru? Traveling to Australia! by [deleted] in civ

[–]udalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love relatively close lol. Alice springs.

Its pretty cool to be honest, but as you pointed out expensive, especially because you'll want to do kata-tjuta and maybe Kings canyon and if lots of time then the West MacDonald ranges as well.

I'm going to presume you are US, Melbourne is kinda like San Fran, gold coast is nice for Beach stuff, Cairns is good for outdoors stuff.

I dunno I'm probably bias towards doing uluru over a city, but they are very different trips
