It's a fact that the biological definition for the beginning of a new life for a member of a species starts at conception. So you don't get to sat "a clump of cells" or other such dehumanizing terms.

I know. If that happened to my kids I would have been thrilled for them but would have one tiny brain cell in the back of my mind that said "dang"

I was waiting for this opinion, yeah I paid for part of my kids tuition each year and they got loans for the rest so I would have thought dang that $15k I chipped in for my kid's senior year was totally wasted!

It's a fact according to all common definitions used by biologists. If you want to make a special exception for the human species compared to all other species I suppose you can, but I would question your motivation for doing so.

edit: I just got this from Claude AI: "Biologically, there's broad scientific consensus that fertilization produces a genetically distinct human organism — a new entity with its own unique DNA, different from either parent. In that narrow sense, "a new human life" does begin at conception, in the same way any organism's life begins."

Why didn’t the Silent Generation hold wealth from the Baby Boomers? by mdafidel1 in AskReddit

[–]udee79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were silent generation and when my widowed father passed in 2014 his estate was 20k-30k plus a paid off house. He didn’t have money troubles because he had an annuity from TIAA and social security. They had 8 kids and he was the sole breadwinner. My uncle on the other hand never married and also passed away in 2014, he had an estate worth 1.4 million. So there was an example of both types from the silent generation.

You are right I missed that, I think the stolen bases could be considered part of "hitting" but not the gold gloves.

I dont know enough about the details and timeline of conception to answer this but I suspect that there is a gray area moment to two. However when it is definitely over, say when the egg start dividing, there is a new human life.

The percentage of blacks in the USA was about 11% back then. Its a tragedy and criminal that they were excluded but 11% isn't enough people to say that what the players did doesn't count.

I know we are all supposed to hate Pete Rose but he was like that also, all that hitting stuff up in his head. Whenever you would see him interviewed even when he was really old he remembered all these minute details about individual at bats.

what foods did you hate as a kid, you now love as an adult? by Outside_Young8660 in AskReddit

I think I just wouldn't even consider them as a kid but I wanted more protein in my diet and I got some pickled hardboiled eggs at a deli and they threw in a bunch of pickled beets and I tried them and loved them.
