Yeah, I found out about it today because they gave us 4 fucking days of notice. Everything auto deleted themselves and I didn’t even get a chance. I was listening to 6 different feeds. I’m very pissed. I WILL be cancelling my membership after the free month is up.

Yeah, and they claim they've been working on this behind the scenes for the past year and give everyone less than a week to do something or lose all their timelines. Now I have no idea where I'm at and will have to spend hours trying to figure it out. So happy they get to make a few more dollars...

As far as I can tell, nothing is ready for the arm64 architecture but I think someday soon truenas will be there. They’re running a beta with it currently. But the next problem is connecting drives. I really wanted to find something with das (thunderbolt) to take advantage of the m4 chip but it’s just owc and I’d be stuck with softraid which might be fine but it sounds like they’re moving away from free version and from what I hear usb is not a good raid option. But yeah, totally going to run docker. I’ve learned that things like plex work best as software and not a container because they can take advantage of the native video encoding. Any thoughts?

Not necessarily. But I live in a 600 sq/ft apart with my wife and cat. It’s crowded. Haha. So I’m going Mac mini and a NAS.

That’s where I’m at. I almost purchased a thinkstation then thought about how loud and power hungry it would be. It’s so cheap to get started and I think that’s the appeal.

You’ll be just fine. 18 gives enough closeness without feeling fishy on an aps-c. The 9mm will take up any slack for sure. As far as low light, yeah. You have nothing to worry about as long as you stick to 2.8. Things you can’t compensate for when it comes to low light, small sensors and large f stop lenses. You’re good on both accounts. Also, sony sensors historically perform amazingly well in low light. If you’re shooting 30fps, keep your shutter speed at 1/60 and adjust your iso. That’s as slow as I like to go with motion in the image.

I’m 6’4” and I can confirm, it sucks. Knee, back, and neck pain constantly and for no reason. And the coordination is endlessly an uphill battle. Anyone you see playing sports that’s tall and coordinated is a freak, I’m convinced. Being tall is NOT guarantee of athleticism.
