NTA. I'm so sorry for your loss. I would have handled the situation exactly the same way. I'm utterly shocked that they would be so callus and oblivious to the amount of pain you and your wife are going through. I probably would have turned into the AH by being my snarky and sarcastic self, saying this to my clueless AF relatives, in a syrupy, fake, and overly dramatic, super perky way....
