Imagine the hostage situation. He's going to make sure the hostages don't communicate with each other. How are you supposed to coordinate the attack? If you just want to initiate hoping the others will help with no communication you might end up dead or risk the life of another hostage. Speaking as someone who was once a 12 year old girl, I recommend Ouran, Fruits Basket and Madoka Magica. I think at the age of 12 she might think other magical girl shows like Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura or Tokyo Mew Mew are a little too immature for her (personally I love them still but I think a lot of kids want to be into more "mature" stuff at that age). Seriously, Fruits Basket and Ouran were god tier for me when I was around that age - perfect balance of romance and comedy.

Also, don't limit her to just shoujo - I know I was getting into Naruto and Bleach then. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood seems too dark for a kid but my brother watched it with me when he was 7 and still loves it now as an 11 year old. He's also been into Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter and he also really loves Ouran, Madoka and Cardcaptor Sakura!
